The purple surfmaster PI vs. the Yellow surfmaster PI

What are the differences between the two detectors? I think the purple labeled one is older model but am not sure. Also, are there significant differences between the two?

Thanks, Mynah

The Purple one is the predecessor to the yellow one. The purple ones are the Surf PI and the yellow the Surf PI Pro. The yellow one has a gain control the purple one does not. The purple one has a pulse control. The gain controls signal strength, the pulse controls pulse width. Both have a threshold control. They are not the same unit. The Pulse control allows you to control the width of the signal and can be used to eliminate small signals such as bobby pins by increasing the width (NOTE: THIS IS NOT A DISCRIMINATION). Other than that they are both function about the same and both are great PI machines. Go to the White's website and pull up the current Surf Pi Pro manual and then compare it to some of the older archived manuals and that will explain more on the differences. Hope this helps.
