Had to head home Friday, but spent a few days on Va Beach trying my luck. Probably averaged 2-3 hours a day, Monday through Thursday. Found 38 pennies, 2 nickels, 10 dimes and 7 quarters. After I spent $8 on batteries!
And to add a little more insult, my oldest daughter, who is 10 and has no interest in the hobby, was walking a few feet away and spotted 3 crisp $1 bills sticking out of the sand. That was on the first day! Took me the rest of the week to catch up with her and she played in the surf the whole time!
No rings, but I did find a small butterfly charm that was in good shape, nothing valuable. Probably give it to one of my girls.
I was surprised how well my old detector was doing considering it hates wet sand. I alternated between wet and dry. While I was finding more coins in dry sand, I was really hoping for at LEAST one ring for the week. Oh well, maybe next year!
I did enjoy the Blue Angels buzzing the beach. Unfortunately I had to be home Friday night and couldn't stay for the air show. I will make sure to plan a little better next trip.
