What kind of material is it the scoop made of ?
 
You can get a similar item in stainless steel at kitchen places like Kaboddle or Williams Sanoma. Also garage sales and the larger thrift stores. Some of them are for scooping out of deep fryers or boiling water. And they can be bent some to suit your needs.
