The sounds a Dual FIeld make...?

I am kinda new to this DF I bought, only had it 2 months or so, and it sounds completely different than the coinmaster . I listen to the target, and then dig... I know the double beep is usually a bobby pin or a bent piece of wire. I do notice if close enough to the surface its a solid tone both directions. Coins scream out loudly with a small footprint. What else can any of you add to help out recognizing targets? I understand time with the machine and I'm gettin all I can in. I hunted the east coast this morn and am headin to Punta Gorda this afternoon, and be on the sand bright and early.:beers:

i need to know to lol just ordered the duelfield yesturday . glad to hear bobbypins and wire will double beeb like my old surf pi. speaking of my old surf pi large iron used to give a echo and it seemed coins where a little more mellow sound than iron. i cant wait to for my news white s to arrive. any tips out there for the df )

Here's what it sounds like to me:

Gold has s bright or sharp tone
Iron has a hollow or echo tone
coins have a soft or mellow tone
bobby pins and large junk earrings can give you a double blip if you sweep with an "X" over the target slowly (first beep is the 12" field, the second is the 6" and you may only get it to do that in one direction).
DEEP Targets usually have a faint tone or barely change the threshold.

One thing that helps is to tape up the weep holes in your headphones to keep that hollow sound out that's created by the wind and also turn the volume up to max (inside the unit there's a volume control that takes a small slotted screwdriver).

Good Luck

thanks horsesold esp about the volume tip. i cant wait to get out there when new md arrives esp as the beaches here are sanded in and have alot of competion here on panama city beach. should be a good test on this pi for depth as most of shallow targets are already found or are buried deep. hh jim
