The Teknetics Omega Finds Me My Very First Barber Dime

My hunting buddy and I tried out a new place today. We were finding plenty of wheat pennies, so I knew there had to be silver in all that thick trash. We were both swinging 5 inch DD coils. I was running the Omega with no discrimination, maximum sensitivity with 3 tones. This place had zero EMI, so all I had to listen to was target chatter. It sounded like a Gatling gun going off. I got a high tone and a steady '84' VDI number. I dug down about 3 inches and out pops a Barber dime. I found some other neat stuff, but the Barber dime just eclipsed them. I have a feeling that this large open field is going to produce plenty of silver coins this Summer.

Thanks everyone. I know that I dig a lot of trash, because I'm a jewelry hunter at heart. I especially like finding gold rings.

Although, this Barber coin sure did put a big smile on my face. :)

Great find TABMAN.

Any place with a bunch of 'wheaties' is definitely worth working well, and the hope for a reward like you got.

I always hunt with maximum Sensitivity, whenever possible, and I use the 4-Toner ID for urban coin hunting (for "flash money"). I prefer to use the 2-Tone ID most of the time when hunting most older sites as I like to hear the audio split between ferrous and non-ferrous. The only correction I have of your post is for many newcomers to the Teknetics line as you said you ran "no discrimination." The T2 is the ONLY Teknetics models that provides that low-end range of adjustment. The Omega adjusts to a settling labeled '1' and the G2 adjusts to a setting labeled' 2', but those are simply adjustment reference numbers, not a true, 'zero' or "No" Discrimination setting.

The Omega & G2 do adjust quite low and accept the bulk of the ferrous targets, but .... they don't get to a non-Disc. level like some competitive models, such as the T2, M6, MXT Pro, Tej
