The type of treasure this hobby is all about

There's no doubt finding a piece of silver or gold jewelry will put a smile on even the most jaded hunter but sometimes we tend to lose track of the true meaning of the hobby and what the treasure is it can bring . . . .

Last weekend I had company at the house and two 5 year olds were with the group . . . . they enjoyed digging through my find boxes and when I asked them if they wanted to try a meta detector, they both jumped at the chance. As they got ready I tossed a handful of coins ion the front yard. We headed out and the nest detector weight and compactness wise for the two girls was the Deus. I showed them what to do and setup a cherry picking program. Handing the detector to one and a pinpointer to the other, they headed off and took turns getting a signal and pinpointing it with the ProPointer.

I wanted to share the following photo of the two of them . . . . hopefully two new treasure hunters have been born and when they get a few more years on them, they will be swinging the latest equipment thinking back favorably on their first experience with a metal detector.

That's cute Andy & what a nice thing for you to do.---I'll bet the girls will remember this!-------I do think you need to shorten the detector shaft a little though.------Thanks for posting that--it serves as a reminder to all of us where the TRUE treasure is!---------Del

I'm sure they had a great time and they'll both be asking for metal detectors for Christmas!

Nice job on getting them off TV and out doors for fun!

Nice set up they had....

best treasure for sure Andy.
