The value of a little research

I've read from many of the people in here, and from others in books and magazines, that one of the key tools is RESEARCH. So I went to the Dept of Transportation (makes the maps), bought some books on local history, and talked to some this country's greatest people (senior citizens). These were found at old picnic areas. you can barely see the diamond in one ring, but it is there. two wheats, and one silver dime. Other misc. coins of later years.

Yeppers I was just talking to a 92 years( young ) lady born in are area and she pointed me to the old pinic grove, the taverern/stage coach stop built in 1813 that is now gone and out in the middle of no were & another taverern built in 1838 that is a private home now (her's ) among a few other places of interest.I now have full access and permission to be on these sites & dig up the privy's metal detect.A half hour conversation will do wonders.

when did you want me to join you on a hunt? Must be a nice feeling! In my area, i've beat what few old sites there are [ that havent had 3 feet of fill dirt, topsoil and sod put over them ] near to death! Oh, to have what you just got! I'd sleep nicely and not mind work as much, if I had me a secret detecting spot or 2 like those you have!

Come on up I'm 1200 miles north of Orlando,I have a sister in wintergarden and my X lived there also who is no longer with us in this great world. I do visit every three or four years used to be much more, need to get back down there soon in the winter when it is cooler maybe we can hook up and do some detecting.
I was doing some research this winter at the historical society and was put in touch with a very nice and freindly lady who rocked my world with some excellent info and sites.I have gone to the tavern
site still a little frozen to probe ,but did a little mding some nice hits but like I said a litte to frozen still. We have had a few more days in the uper 50's to 60 so it will not be long now.I will keep all posted of what I find and when I dig up the privy I will be posting all of that on the bottle huntng forum stop on over and check us out.

"I'm 1200 miles north of Orlando" WHOA! Thats a ways! I'll be right up! { I wish! } I may be up that way in general this August! I'll save your email address and if it happens to work out o.k. for you, maybe you can take me detecting for a while! I love Florida, I hate Florida, I love Florida, I hate Florida, I love Florida, I hate Florida ,I love Florida, I hate Florida! Oh well, it has it's good and bad points! Good beach hunting- along with loads of competition! It could have good land hunting, but it's few and far between, partly because of all the filling and sod cover. Almost eveybody did it back in the late 70's and early 80's There are very few original land settings left! Thanks for the invite and we will see what the future brings!
