The guy that looked at my tower told me the motherboard took a permanent leave of absence....AND:To replace it,and some other hardware it would need because the stuff is obsolete:Im lookin at around $400.00-NATURALLY:The 3 year warranty expired last August.I ve been thinking about up-grading the memory in the old tower-GOOD thing I didnt-it woulda been all for naught....Ive been seeing these DELL packages with a flat-panel monitor for around$4-500.00.SO:Im goin to Port Huron this Satyrday-Gonna check out Best Buy,I guess....

I have a Dell, and love it. I bought mine over the phone as a custome package. I also got a great deal on 3 years of ant-virus.
I am not a fan of Best Buy. have had many problems. I shop at Circuit City for electronics.

I bought a computer once at circuit city. The sales person was very helpful. It was a real good computer but the mail in rebates was a nightmare. After I finally got all the rebate money back, someone broke into my house and stole the computer and alot of things Santa brought the kids. After that I went to Sams ( walmart) and bought a computer. No mail in rebates and its a nice computer.Good luck.

Do your research on another computer and buy it on line (from a reputable co.) Not only will you be paying a higher price in a retail outlet, you'll be paying tax too. Most places offer free shipping for large ticket items. Hey, with what you're saving, maybe you can get something better.

I think it is a Dell can't recall the model GX something or other Opti whatever. Will look later today and send you a PM.

It has a ZIPdisk drive built into it. (One of those I got from the college surplus store and put my hard drive in it. Been about 2 years since I had it connected to anything. Have a big monitor I can toss your way too (not flat screen - if ya want it).

Will connect it later today and see what is there. I know it has LAN port on the back for hooking to a cable modem. Had a built in modem for connecting to a phone line. I believe it has a CD burner and maybe an extra CD drive (non-burner). You might be able to just swap hard drives and have it up and running in no time if these are both Dells.

Will let ya know.
