The way I run my coil cable. If nothing else it's easier for me to change coils. :detecting:

This is the way I run them on any make or model for the last 3 years or so. Sometimes when winding the cable it would be loose or too tight. This way if it becomes loose you simply tug on the loop. I had these pictures in a folder in my computer that I was trashing. So I thought I would post them before they were gone. Good hunting to all!

Hey, I'm heading out Geocaching for the first time with my family. I hope to also find some more places to hunt. I just loaded the 250 in the car. I hope I get to use it?

I did about the same thing with the cable straight but I used a length 1 inch styrafom pipe insulation. Ran it from the coil to just below the head. It pretty much stays in place by it self but I put some tie wraps on the lower rod. Like you said, easy to change coils....Lots of luck on caching...........................Get Dirty...Dirty Don.....

Just got back from geocaching. I found 3 great spots to hunt in out travels. We found 4 caches. Well, my oldest son found 3 of the 4. Then my other son found the other. I guess me and the wife are blind? I would recommend geocaching to find new detecting sites! It was a fun time for all.

a nice guy, an inventor, you know MD'ing and help others a lot. That doesn't change the fact, that I hate geo-caching!!!

When I find something, I don't want it to be a geo-cach. My wife likes it and makes me go with friends. She says it will make me more sociable. What a waste of time. I don't want to be sociable. I want to go play by myself. I want to find real treasures. It kind of reminds me of yuppie tecting. I want to sweat and get my hands dirty. I want to know the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.

I know the agony part. I go with her or else I'm in big trouble.

I run straight up the lower shaft then wind around the upper shaft. Been that way for years, since I started. Can't remember who told me to back then.
Some say that some machines can run more stable, maybe less false sigs, better ID, something, can't remember what that was all about either. I can see if the cord is too loose and it flops when swinging, so plenty of Velcro straps, ties, tape or whatever it take.

Khouse - The bottom line is....we all do what we are told by the wife or else....

John,
I know what you mean. But today I found one swimming hole in the middle of nowhere and an old foundation with a flower garden. I'll be back to detect those spots. So maybe I'll find some real treasure?

Running the cable straight up eliminates a lot of falseing as the coil picks up the loose cable when it flops around.
