The White's new TDI is supposedly shipping, it will be interesting to see the reports of the early adopters.

Do you have a URL? What it a whites TDI? George
 
It is a Pulse Induction Detector based on an Eric Foster design. There is no official information as of yet I am aware of, but the initial small production run has been shipped to the beta testers and my understanding is that dealers are taking orders. Msrp is $1595 or $1599, I've seen both quoted, so about ~$1600. It is NOT meant to be a coin or relic detector!!! But has been used for that purpose under difficult ground conditions where it holds an advantage over a VLF.

Well..... there's only two saltwater beaches that I would really need to use it on. And whereas two years ago gas for a trip to the beach was ~$15/day, now it's like ~$45/day. If I go & get skunked @$15/day that's one thing, but $45/day starts to hurt. So I'm going to cut back next Winter since Summer is here and I'm a Freshie in the Summer. Now if things change and we invade Saudi Arabia and make it our Eastern most state:rofl:.........then things might change on the fuel scene.

It cuts through the worst black sand like butter with no affect unlike on most pi detectors that will false. Guys who hunt places like Hawaii, California, etc. where the minerals are bad are going to clean up. I would love to have had this thing in Maui years ago when I was there. My Excalibur would go about 1" in the disc mode it was so bad. When you look at the mountains in the distance they look like rusting iron ore. While the Minelabs work ok on Oahu, I know my depth was still somewhat limited but great for a VLF. I bet the guys are going to waterproof this detector and suck up gold rings like a vacuum. I think it will also ignore the mineralized rocks they have there as well. I am sure we will find out sooner or later if the guys there are too hush hush about it.

A nasty little beach but some nice finds there. Last two pics are of a Shriners ring I forund there and I am a Shriner. Tried to find the brother that lost it but no luck. Later Bud Jerry aka Tinfoil
 
Hi Tinfoil,

I pulled a couple wheaties last night from 10-12 inches from a "workedout" location. Like most PI units the TDI is lackluster in air tests but punches deep in the real world. It is hotter on low conductors and so hitting nickels over a foot deep should be no problem. The unit is optimized for gold.

It is possible to dig less iron with this unit than with a normal PI but you will dig more than you would running a VLF. Still, a step in the right direction, and I still have a lot to learn with the unit.

People who are into PI units will like the TDI. VLF users should be more cautious about getting one. Bottom line, the worse the ground mineral conditions get, the better this machine will fare compared to a VLF unit.

Pat loved that 1/2 kt with the 10 diamonds. She got that one and the little pink stone with the two diamonds on the side. A lady where she worked had one just like it and she paid $1800 for it. When she found out I found one just like hers and Pats was Free it just about got to her and Pat said she went out and bought here a bigger one :rofl:. I really got a kick out of that one. Pat has got some nice Honkers though and that lady will never be able to catch up. :rofl: I kept the rest and have not sent anything to Mid West from all the water hunting last year. That high dollar gold watch was almost brand new and works great. That was a real nice haul over there the last time. One before that was a nice one to. OF coarse it is always good there and that is why I have kept hunting it all these years. Even though that is some bad black sand and small iron there it is still worth it. You had some nice stuff yourself too. Did you go down to the end and hunt where I said for you to go cause I sure did not get it all. The last week over there it got real sanded in bad. Did you ever go across the way to that old place I was telling you about over the bridge to the other side on the end. There is some real old stuff over there but it has to be cut down bad to get it. It is better in the winter time there. As soon as Tesoro sends me back my two Golden's fixed I will probably head back over there. Want to get back over there and hunt for another month before it gets to $5.00 a gallon of gas. It has been a while since I saw Daughter and Grandson and I miss them. I will let you know when I get out of here and on my way over there again. I know you like hunting that beach too so leave me a little will you??????? Man it is nice hearing from you. good hearing from you,I checked out the little beach today and its still sanded in as it has been all spring.
The wind was very strong so after 3 hours a few coins and no jewelry I packed it in. Let me know when you
will be over and i will try and meet you there.
