Why isn't this mentioned in the owners manual? This is a handy feature,in junk infested areas! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izfzu1egbT4
 
My understanding is that it is a screen for diagnostics and tuning, and not meant for detecting purposes.
Although it does work for some in the field.
