Thinking about an F70

Hello, I am thinking about getting an F70 for my fiance and was looking for some input from you guys and gals who use it. Any pros and cons will be greatly appreciated.

i really miss my f70 had for almost two years, light well balanced awsome battery life you dont see to many used ones for sale that tells ya most people love them. the only bad was emi sometimes you might have to turn the sense way down but i stll maneged to hunt everywhere with it , also a easy one to learn in my opinion, overall the f70 is a great machine hh

Ive had mine for 2 years. First detector I ever had...sort of an impulse buy, always was intrigued with finding treasure, history, and wanted to satiate that side of my nature with some excersize too... based my decision on good advice from a chance meeting with a guy who has been detecting a long time.
Its very simple, turn on and go, easy to adjust as skills and understandings develop. Very adjustable tones, settings, notches, speeds, different coils, etc....really a lot of detector here. Mines been living in my truck, out in the winter and summer, beaches, totlots, fields. For such a light machine, it has never broken or caused me any trouble at all...so, regarding it being a good machine for a firsttime user, that they can grow into, have confidence in, and enjoy this sport, its a contender. Get nice very comfortable headphones and the 11" dd with it, and she should love you both for a long time!

I have heard that they are somewhat chatty at times. I use an e-trac and I would think the f70 would be a little easier to learn. I really like the video reviews I have seen. Another reason I want to get it is she has used an F4 alot and likes it so I just thought might as well upgrade to the 70. Thanks for the replies and If I buy one I am sure I will seeking you guys out for some info at some point....Thanks Dave

If you do go the F70 route (which I highly recommend) just remember...you dont need to run it real "hot" to get real good depth! I see folks complaining that they can't run 99 sensitivity and +1 threshhold, and they lose faith in the machine because of "chatter". Found 1880s button and a '37 wheatie running just 80s sens, -2 threshold, and this was an "easy" find at 7 inches. Be sure to get the 11" DD, as mud stated...

She'll pick up noise from your ETrac for sure if you don't do a noise cancel after she gets that F70 turned on. I hunt with more than a few ETrac guys and it's never a problem. But you can run this rig hot, maxxed out with the small 5" coil and get awesome good depth and target separation to pick out those shallow goodies in trashy areas. And there's a lot of those left behind in some places.

Like the guys already said, get that 11" coil, it's awesome in medium to low trash and it's really better (less noisy) than some might believe. Put that small coil on it, and she'll really be a challenge to outdo in those trashy areas, even with that ETrac.

I had the F4 and went to the F70-In that move, to me, there was quite a leap as to better electronics, ergonomics etc. I ended up going to the 75ltd, which is a costlier commitment. But I keep the F70 as my back up machine. I really made a bunch of significant (both artifacts and historical old coins, including colonial and silvers large and small) finds with the F70. It is a very good machine. CO
