Thinking about....

I have had five detectors , But I like the two minelabs I have had best I had the x-terra 50 and sold it for a x-terra 70. I really like the 70 deep 1,2,3,4, or 28 tones auto ground balance auto ground tracking and a huge coil selection. I got mine off of the classified section for 375 shipped . I posted a wtb add and got 3 or 4 replys . I wanted either the newer x-terra or the x-terra 70 . I wanted a tesoro until a findmall sponsor told me the minelabs were a little deeper. All brands make a good one though , it is what ever you learn that is best for you.

a lot of bang for a few bucks. Supposed to have decent depth. I would talk you into an Explorer, but it is expensive, heavy and goes real deep! You don't want to dig that deep! :detecting:

I have 3 detectors for different reasons. The Minelab explorer II ( for old homes as it goes very deep ) This is very heavy, unbalanced and takes a while to learn so I wouldn

1. super easy to use
2. super light almost same as the ace 250
3. gets great depth
4. great separation in high iron area, like old homesteads
5. Large selection of coils available
6. Lots of available info and help on it
7. made by minelab

Lisa, this is Ma again....I did go on hunts with my club at a Civil War site on a hillside near Ironton...called Shepherds Mountain....but it is a ski resort now! I found different size bullets or mini-balls and a seated silver quarter there, but no iron stuff, as I didn't want to dig for them and really would have gotten too tired, dirty and sweaty...more than I did...had to wear long sleeves and long pants to keep from getting poison ivy....sweating is better than itching!

I do have a mule shoe (I think) and iron railroad spikes and other mini-balls that I've found in other areas while :detecting: so I guess the White's Spectrum XLT would and did find some relics! I just never went relic hunting very often....to know what I could find with it.....but I have no complaints....only when I had to send it in once for repairs....didn't want to wait to get it back and go :detecting:  May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Terry, this is the machine I have decided I REALLY would like to have. The 70 is hard to find now that the 705's are out. A little more money than I have to spend on one right now but I have it on my "to buy" list. I found an Garrett Ace 250, in "like new" condition, used only 5 or 6 times, with two coils, for $175 shipped. Needless to say, I bought it. Hope it's here by the end of the week, but I figure it will be the first of next week. If I can find a Minelab x70 at a exceptional price, I might just go ahead and get it.

there are used ones out there, keep looking, you might contact Richard at backwoods detectors..........that is where I got mine, he advertises here in the classifieds all the time

OK, I will keep check. Thanks.

Lisa isn't the Troy a lifetime warenty machine? I know this post is a week or so old, But... Just thinking. Even if you get a new machine you may still want to have the X2 fixed. Yeah their website says lifetime by Tesoro. May be worth the call.
