Thinking of buying a T2

Jason in TN

New member
Don't. I did and used it for two months at least two times a week. I have owned a lot of detectors in my time detecting and the T2 was the bottom of the barrel for me. May have had a bad one but I don't want to try another one that is for sure. Sorry if I offended any one but I wasted my hard earned cash and wanted to warn others before they do the same.

Sorry to hear about your dislike to the T-2, Was it the detector or learning curve?

Please share why you feel the T-2 is not suited for your hunting needs, Like any detector it will not suit everyone. Many here on the forum think otherwise, Please share your views.

Have a Merry Christmas,
Paul (Ca)

One of my favorite spots to relic hunt has a lot of power lines that run over it the T2 was terrible in this spot. Had problems with it only having the one coil. Hunt a park that has some good silver left but with the big coil had issues with the other trash. Like to hunt the beach worked good in dry sand was again terrible in wet sand. It is a light and comfortable detector to hunt with but that was the only thing I liked about it. Had other issues with it also. Hunted a Union Civil war camp sight for two hours with it and got 0 good targets. Went back to the truck and got my X5 out and had 4 nice dropped bullets at about 8in deep in less than a hour.
Sold it as used on Ebay only brought $450. Bad deal for me at the way around. Hope you the best if you decide to get one or have one but I will stick with other detectors. I buy one or two every year test them out if I like them I keep them. If not they go on Ebay. Lost more money on the T2 than any detector I have ever sold. Could go on but you get the idea.

:clapping:

i read the very same kind of generic comments on the T2 on a local forum. Funny thing is that none of the persons that did not like this md actually owned one. They just had a try for a while and came back with comments such like "it doesn't have the back light on the screen","it does not save the settings", it doesn't go as deep as my Explorer SE", and so on. All things that,if you own a T2,will find useless or wrong. I wish i was so rich to compare my new machine with all the other on the market but i can't.I compare it with my needs, and the T2 perfectly suits me. I had some interference problems in the beginning, but the problem did not come back and 2 days ago i hunted with no problem at all just down an electric pole (sorry for my poor english,i hope you understand what i mean). After 1 month with it i would say i am fully satisfied. My only slight concern goes for the thin lever for Ground/pin point. But with some caution it should be ok.

If you look down the list here seems there is more problems than praise for the T2. I can assure you I know how to use a detector. And this thing would not even make a decent tennis racket. Just trying to let folks know my thoughts as I feel I was burnt on this detector and do not want others to do the same with out testing it out first. Any company that would sell you a detector and ask you to send it in for updates for the problems they created and then charge you for the updates is a company I do not want to deal with. Do you understand my feelings on this better now. If you buy one of these you have been warned. Good luck and happy hunting.

I can understand you having a problem with the interference under the power lines, It depends and most of the time it's not an issue detecting near or under power lines.

Searching in the beach wet sand can be a problem, Just like most detectors they don't fare well searching wet sand. The T-2 is not exception, It too surfers stability in the ocean wet sand.

The large T-2 coil should not be a problem for you searching in trashy areas, You've not gotten accustom to the mighty T-2 separation especially searching an old iron laced site. You just haven't learned how to separate signals from within a trashy site, The T-2 has been proven to pull relics and old coins from areas missed by many top end detectors.

I hope you get the chance to try out the T-2 again, Maybe the next time around you'll understand it more and see what amazing results we're seeing using the t-2.

Happy New Years!

do not think I will ever try a T2 again. Glad yours works for you. I hated it. There to me was more bad than good to this detector. Try it before you buy it I wish I would have.

Too Bad you feel that way but then more good findings for those of us that know how to use the T2. It is not a rip off to send it in for an update and pay for it...I don't feel that way!

The dude's an obvious DFX guy blowin' off steam. Nothing more :puke:

When I got rid of my complicated DFX detector with no depth- I didn't go into the DFX forum t orip it with an adjenda

He had to know this would start a flame war

Or u would have seen all kinds of nice coins posted from the UK + USA and that interference problems have been corrected-

Like your DFX with no depth would have found something in that beat Civil War camp--give me a break.

If u took the time to learn all metal- or iron separation with 2 tones it would have found plenty there-

Typical Whites guy with an adjenda-

3 in the morning and that commercial comes on with the guy hunting that southern plantation where the dozers came and removed the first 14 inches of topsoil and then the college kids sifted the trash out and polished all the relics before putting back down to roll the new sod over. That proud DFX owner with his shiny US box plate.....maybe this is where the DFX owners go ?

Never said the DFX was the only detector. If you would read the post I said I try a new detector or two every year. Not here to do anything but tell my feelings on the T2. Like I said I feel I was burnt on it lost more money on this detector than any I have ever sold. I am now testing a Nautilus. I would take the Ace 250 over the T2. TRY IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT.
Peace and good luck with what ever you use.

Wasn't your cup of tea? Nothing wrong with that. It took me a few months to find out how much I liked the T2 I even sold one of the first ones to come out and waited six months and got a new one. It sure made relic hunting so easy and I found so many good targets.

Can't wait to see the new fishers I don't think they will be a better relic machine maybe just easier to use but the fisher in time will tell all.

well swingingmydfx you sure won't have any trouble selling it. If something happen to mine I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. For relic hunting I haven't used any better, and I've got a Explorer XS for 8 years, plus a Tesoro Vaquero, and the T2 is the go to detector. I live on Sherman's route of march and if there are any relics out there it will find then, so before you sell it, read the manual, read the manual, read the manual, then take it out for another stroll through the park, or a civil war camp site. For relic hunting I only use 2+, because I want to hear the iron. The iron signal is not bad, because I dug a nice base cup to a Hotchkiss shell. I also dug a beer can a 20 inches, the deepest thing I have dug. The settings I use when relic hunting are sensitivity 80 to 85, 2+, and disc. 10, because I want to hear everything. There is one problem with the T2 and that is you will have to do a lot of deep digging, because it will pick up the deep targets. Its a different machine than most detectors, so it takes a little getting use to. I didn't think it would replace my Explorer, but it did. If someone was going to give me a Explorer II, the most expensive Whites, or a T2, I would take the T2 without any question. If you do sell it that means more stuff for me to find. Happy hunting.

swingingmydfx try this. To understand how fast the T2 will recover from one target to another, find a wood deck that has been nailed down, because the nail are usually about an inch or 2 apart in a line, and swing the T2 across the deck and you will hear every nail. It makes no difference how fast you swing you will still hear every nail. I did that at the beach and it even surprised me the first time I did it. Now do the same thing with your other detectors.

Sayin' a cheapie Garrett ACE is better than a T-2 is plain as$inine!!! - the dumbest thing stated in this forum thusfar-

Another freakin drive by idiot with an adjenda-

porbably another moron who never really had a T-2-

Take a hike back to the dfx f0rum with that BS. rubbish-
