Charged my remote overnight and went to use it and this is happening:

I got my deus used from a reputable dealer. It's still under warranty. Am in contact with them to resolve. Ever seen this happen?

What a drag!!
How about the earphone control ? Does it turn on?
XP was terrific with my headphone issues , so if the headphones work at least you can keep detecting until they repair the remote.
You need new wallpaper also :)

Contrast too hi?

Dint have the contrast high when I charged it.

Can't reload the software because when it's connected to computer, you have to trigger the update from the remote.

while connected to your pc

turn unit on and wait 5 seconds
then press the second button on the top to select speaker
then press the first button on the top row to select options
then press the middle button the top row 2 times to config
then press the first button the on the top row to select config
the press the the middle button on the top row 5 times to update
then press the first button on the top row to select update
then press it again to confirm.

you should be able to update then

let me know if that works

The PCB got fried in a friends control box, somehow. However he took it to the main dealer and they replaced it under warranty while he waited, no problem.

Really appreciate it XP-Man, but I talked to both the retailer and XP and XP wants me to box everything up and send it to them for diagnosis.

Boxed the remote, coil, and headphones up and sent it to MA today after getting a Repair # from XP. $25 for insurance, ouch. Hoping they get everything back to me soon!
Sucks because I had just put in and tweaked all my custom programs.

So I got my Deus remote, coil and WS4s back from Detector Electronics Corp, our only USA repair place for Deus. They said they replaced the LCD screen and also said they reinstalled 3.2.
Well my custom programs are still there so I'm guessing they didn't reboot the software. Anyway the top of my remote rubber cap looks off-center. Like maybe it's on backwards? I didn't notice this before I sent it in for repair.
Could you all tell me if yours is like this?

Call them and ask WTF?? Is this the standard they repair things? Maybe you can get a free gift??

LOL also ask how to turn it around.....

Jim

I asked for a free gift. I've only had the Deus a short while and the screen died. I had to send them the coil, remote, and WS4s which meant I was without my baby for a couple weeks.
So in my included letter I asked if they'd throw in a 9" remote cover. Nope. Didn't happen.

I sent the same pics to them asking about it, but wanted to see if anyone could look at theirs and confirm mine is off.

Mine fits much better than that--no nicks on the cover or the side like you have on yours either.
Fisher sent me a prepaid shipping label after only two months and Garrett pays return shipping in the first 90 days. I imagine it's spelled out in XPs fine print some where but I'd be returning that remote on THEIR dime.

I also would send a msg to the main factory in france and tell them just how unhappy you are with the crappy service and the need to even get service on a new unit and all the cost for sending such items.....

Jim

So I called and they said I can remove the screws and reseat the top myself "it's not hard" or I can send it in at the end of the season. Sigh. I paid a LOT for this detector. It cost me like $35 to ship the coil, remote, and headphones to them for repair. $1900 of insurance. I really don't want to send it in again and am a bit disappointed that they didn't notice this before sending it back.

I love my Deus and I would be pissed, like I suggested msg France.....I would also fix that cover myself.

Jim

Fixed it myself, apparently they put it on backwards. Sorry the pic is a little blurry iPhone doesn't like to macro.

That's really bad they overlooked that, I would not be happy about the nicks either.... Sure it works fine, but that is not the condition you sent it. Wow just got my Deus a couple weeks ago and am sad to hear this is how the service here is..... Good luck and please keep us posted of any updates.
