This could SAVE alot of money on Metal Detector BATTERIES

NO offense but the first thing that should have tipped you off was that he said there were 32 batteries in there, ok so if there was then that battery would have been over 32 volts, a AA battery is 1.2 volts, so do the math. There are batteries in there like that but like it's been said wont work on regular AA battery devices. Sorry guys, would be cool though huh.

RE DO your math. 4 stacks in series of 8 in parallel takes 32 batts and gives 6volts. I've heard of this for several years. They may have changed the batt configuration to cut costs. 4 batts being cheaper than 32. I'll give 'em the benefit of the doubt on this one. Even though they got me!

NO matter how you hook them up it's still 1.2 volts. 32 batteries would be more than 6 volts, please explain why I am wrong. how does it make 6 volts.

I get a Porn site when I click the link...that would have been my first clue...lol

And you are complaining because why GoGoGopher, LOL free porn is free porn man you have to love it. :yo:

8 Batteries in parallel are 1.5 volts. (positive to positive, neg to neg.) 4 batts in series (positive to neg) gives 6 volts. So....... 4 sets of "8 in parallel" that are then placed in series are 6 volts with the current of 8 batts.
Hope this isn't confusing. I don't believe it was a scam. I've heard of it before. But again, to save money I believe they changed the 32 AA to the long D batts. Saving manufacturing costs. Notice the retail price is the same......of course!

If you want to save big money on batteries then use nimhs or nicads (nimhs are better). I also build electric RC aircraft as a hobby and batteries are BIG in that field. I've got computer chargers that will do nicads, nimhs, lipos (these are the power source of the plane...high amp draw/capacity and light weight). In fact, I may be writing a "How-To" on building your own rechargable battery packs for detectors (or just how to properly charge and use them). Comon misconception is that they don't last as long as regular batteries. Wrong, as I could show you some nimhs with the right capacity that will run 2 or 3 times longer than a regular. All depends on the capacity. I know also of VERY cheap computerized chargers that you can set up any way you want, charge slow or fast, and are only $20 to $30 from China. Shipping is cheap and only takes about 4 days to get here. Not a commercial. Just a place I buy a lot of plane electronics from that cost about 1/4th what they'd sell for in the states.

Please you guys, by all means, take extra batts with you........BUT, when you change them out, take the old ones home to dispose of them. I sure find my share of batteries in the field.

On re-chargebles; Where's a charger when you need one? If you like them, cool. But, always carry some Coppertops for spares. You just never know when you'll need spares. :surrender:
