This makes about 6 or 7 of these that I have found. I first thought that they might be a door knocker. Or maybe a trunk handle. Am I getting close?

I wouldn't bother y'all about this item but I feel that since I have found so many......the mystery must be solved. One thing that they all have in common: They all come from homeplaces about a century old. I appreciate any help.
 
Hi Kevin, I'm not positive but my thinking always was when I dug one of those was that it was just a heavier version handle from a galvanized washtub .Maybe it is an earlier version handle. HH Charlie
