This is why I love the beach so much! 14K ring.

I remember like it was yesterday detecting this ring off the beach down in Oceanside going towards San Diego in 2011. It was in the sand about 3 feet from the boardwalk and my adrenalin levels shot up! I gave it to someone who told me that they were real diamonds and soon after taking it home, I lost the ring. I have turned the house upside down a few times, searched the insides of the couches etc; but still cannot find it after 4 years now and hope one day it will surface.....so frustrating. Anyway, I managed to take photos and you'll still see a film on the stones that I did not even have time to get cleaned off. Maybe one day I'll see it again. It definitely was an awesome find!

Yeah, that is a beauty alright!

Bummer about your loss..Heres a tip! Lost items are generally found in the last place you look...

I have been through her jewellry box many times! under the bed, mattress, literally everywhere many times and still stumped as to where it could be. I even took the backing off the couches because couches have spaces where coins and sticky unrecognisable objects lol!! can collect but nothing! Maybe one of the grandkids might have played with it and threw it somewhere? The only thing I can think of is someone, I hate to say someone we know took it. Well, it remains lost until it's found right!!! It's taught me a lesson to be more careful in the future!

Walk yourself thru what was going on the last hour or so that you KNOW where it was. Try to include anyone in the house as well. That's a great find and well worth the trouble to find again. Double the finding fun!

I tell you, as a loser of many things, generally all stolen or hidden from me by my Wife...if she is adamant she didnt touch the item, Heres what I do.....

Sometimes a guy just has to take a nap or go to sleep with the lost item in mind, thinking about it and where you last saw it etc.....then your sub conscience finds it for you while you are dreaming! Heck, you may have stashed it someplace in the bathroom after you got home, took the pics and then took a shower? Look in that little shot glass you got back in '84 from Niagara Falls you keep at the back of your razor drawer!...

Thanks for the suggestions! Mud, I tried your nap/sleep method and all I came up with is the lady of the house telling me I'm a "lazy bum" and "get out there and detect another one but an 18K one this time" and "no hot dinners until you get back with it"!!! I replied sheepishly "Ok honey but it's gonna to be tough out there to find another one" and slithered out the back door with metal detector under my arm (with a big wide grin:) of course):clapping:

P.s. I love the "shot glass from Niagra Falls" comment!! I think all of us has at least one shot glass from somewhere on the planet and probably from Niagra Falls!!

Wow,GS.. a beauty of find and it's subsequent loss will never forgotten, if at all. Remember to check your sinks' catch traps..In my haste to gently clean barber and seated dimes it wasn't unusual for small silver to slip out of the soapy grip of my fingers and down the drain, only to saved by the trap.
