Had a three hour hunting window this morning, so headed off to the fairgrounds at pre dawn. 1st dug target 10 minutes after starting I recovered the 1898 Barber quarter from about 7". Next target was a 58d wheat back. Besides a few pieces of trash I went quite a while before digging another good target. Got the 2 clad quarters back to back and the clad dime on the way back to my SUV along with a toasted 1903 I H cent. We have pound this area pretty good, but the recent rain, if nothing else, made digging possible and may have helped light up the older coins, some.
The last shots are an accumulation of silver coins, the 925 marked ring and the junk tie clasp form over the past week. Got the 39 Merc. a week ago last Sat. then digging got tough with hard ground. Miid week we got some much needed rain and in between showers got the 925 silver ring and the 45p War nickel on the demoed housing site. Yesterday morning went back to the demoed site and worked a stretch of curb strips and recovered the 2 Rosie dimes and tie clasp and 3 wheat cents. Hot temps moving back in, but digging should be good for a few days. HH jim tn
