This mornings hunt! :fisher::fisher:

Hunting time of late has been greatly curtailed do to our near drought conditions. Some places in the area, however, did get a nice shot of rain from some thunder showers over night, so grabbed the 75 and headed off to a spot to see how digging conditions were. Had nice moisture down a good 3" or so, so put in 3 1/2 hours in on the spot and managed 2 older coins along with some clad and cents and other items. The 2 more coveted coins were a 41 Mercury and a 1911 V nickel. The other Merc., 29s, I dug over the weekend. The 2 wheats I got this morning were 42d and 57d. The Memphis Railway token continue to show up from time to time. The dog rabies tag is from 1994 and the spoon is Oneida LTD. HH jim tn

Jim,

Very nice mornings hunt.

Looking at you pictures it looks like you were running the little 5" coil, if so what kind in ground depth were you getting out of it and what processor were you running?

I have an area that has gave up some silver with the bigger coils and I have been thinking about trying the 2 little coils, the 5" and 6.5". These 2 coils air test about the same but I have not really been able to get much information on in ground depth.

Hi Ron, yeah, I've had the 5" coil on now for nearly a month. Running in de mode, 0 disc., 90 DST, (which appears to be off) no notch, 3h tones and an average of 85 sen. I've dug several coins down to 7" and maybe a bit more when I listen carefully and just inch my way along. I really have been amazed at the depth the 5" can get. In my moderate ground 5-6" is a breeze with it. And it really is laser like. HH jim tn

Hi digs Jim

Curious why you're not running Boost Process with the 5" coil?

I'm planning to take my F75 with the 5" coil, and my Racer with the 5" coil out to do some comparisons between them :twodetecting:

I also just got the F75 NEL Snake coil, it's a 6” x 3 ½” coil like the Fisher coil, except it's a DD coil vs a concentric, so it should be interesting to see how that little football coil does.

HH,
Brian

Hi Brian, I do use boost frequently, mainly when the grass is taller. To my ears, de has a little cleaner sound to it as does the je mode. In heavy trash de just seems to isolate small dime size targets better and as mentioned, has a cleaner feel to it. But boost certainly has its place.

I have been looking at the the NEL Snake and am real curious about it. I, however, have the 5 x 10 DD and really like it on the little less trashy spots. I know your ground is different out there, but am real curious about your depth comparisons. HH jim tn

Brian,
I was reading you post above about the NEL Snake coil, I just looked at one of the dealers that I do business with and they didn't list that coil for the F75, they had one that would work on the F5, F19 and a few other models.

This is the first I have heard of the little NEL, can you tell me where I could find one for the F75.

Thanks Ron

Ron, a little further down,Gold diggers (forum sponsor) right under the beach forum. Under NEL coils they show it for the F 70 and F 75. HH jim tn

As I recall you liked the football concentric coil...You may love the NEL DD football coil.. Need to check that out for the F70 on this end too.
We spent the day getting rained on again.. Were way over 5" above normal for June now.
You had a good day. Happy you got out fine Sir..

oops never mind I just caught your 7" depth post to RonWV on some of the coins..Man, that is good depth

Nothing deep, El, 3-5" on those this morning. The 29s last weekend was around 7". Nice soft whimper. I used the 6 1/2 concentric mostly for woods hunting with my last LTD. It could squeeze in, under and around brush that I couldn't with the larger 11" coil. And yes, I liked it. HH jim tn

Thanks Jim. I need to test out DE and JE modes more often, I tend to just leave it Nasa Tom style with it balls to the wall with BP mode, o disc, and 99 sens :drinking:

I'll report back after I try out the NEL Snake coil, I'm hoping it'll have a little more depth then the 5" with as good of seperation in iron and what not.

Brian

Ron I picked up the coil from new forum sponsor Craig @ Show Me Treasure. I think it was $111 delivered and he was FAAAASSSSTTTTT :surprised:

I received the coil in two days. I might get out for a bit after work tonight to give it a try, but it looks like it's going to be a super little coil.

HH,
Brian

Will be interesting. Check out the weight as well. The Sharp Shooter on my A T Pro is not altogether a light swing. HH jim tn

Nice work! Well, the year is now half over, another good performance, you seem to be steadily chugging along !..:clapping:
Mud.

It would be nice to see a head to head comparison of the NEL Snake, the 5"DD and the 6.5" conc.
Being those are the "trash lot" coils.

Sounds like Brian maybe can do just that. What ever the outcome, I'd be pretty hard pressed to let the 5 incher go. HH jim tn.

I feel pretty much the same about the 6.5". But I do use my F70 to poke around in gold country.
And if the Snake can deliver on tiny targets in highly mineralized soils, I might have to give it a try.

I like the size and shape of it, but it has to be deeper then my 5" for me to spring for it. My hunting buddy has a NEL Sharp Shooter for his 75 and I may give it a try. HH jim tn

Brian,
If you have the time I would love to have some air test numbers from that little NEL Snake coil. All we need to compare is to have the same settings and the same target. I am not saying that the air test numbers are max depth or distance from the coil. I just picked those setting numbers because the detector was running pretty smooth with all coils and give me a good snap shot of what each coil will do compared to the other coils.

So here is a picture of the air testing I have done with my F75Ltd upgrade and the coils I have.

I done a factory reset and selected 90 DST, disc @ 15, sensitivity 80, and the target was a clad dime. As you can see I got a number for every processor, but I will take what I can get. I did use headphones and I would swing the dime past the coil and move it away until it was not a dig able signal and then back up until it sounded dig able and record the number.

You will notice that my testing shows that the 5" and 6.5" elliptical are really close to the same depth. My all around favorite coil is the 6.5" that I got off Jim a while back, and as Jim said it does like the woods.

I did check on line at Show Me Treasure and they have NEL coils listed but not the snake for the F75. I would guess if I would have contacted them by email they may have more than was showing.

Thanks Ron

Just looking at my own chart we don't have a lot of room between the NEL sharpshooter and the 6.5" to fit in the snake. But I noticed that the sharpshooter likes the bigger coins like the 11" DD coil and the 10" concentric.

Here is the same chart above using a clad quarter target.
