This NEL coil is something else...

The most intact lamp part I have found so far.
I have found several of these but usually smashed and never one with the knob still attached and sticking out straight like when it was new.

The story here isn't the target but how deep it was and where and how I noticed it.

Check this out...in an area I have been over a million times, surrounded by power lines on all sides with WiFi hitting it hard from a fire station on site and no red clay but even though it is black dirt it is still mineralized.
My GB number was 71 in the very dry soil.
No good signals here left at all, I have found several but now there is only iron and some trash left...but I keep trying.

Yesterday I found this with the F70 and NEL Sharpshooter coil.
Got a pretty solid 99 from all directions, that number never jumped lower or changed, and depth on my screen said 10-11".
All metal, gain and thresh maxed out and SL speed....also hit the thing in disc pretty solid at 85 sense, -2 thresh, 0 disc, 1 tone and DE speed.
I opened a hole, risky because most everything is iron here especially at those numbers, also small iron like tiny nails and wire can do it too but show depth like that and actually be way less deep.
Still, I had nothing better to do at that minute so I dug.

I got down deep only thanks to my Sampson shovel, I would not have even attempted digging the thing at all with my hand Lesche, if I did I would still be digging.
I finally reached this thing and pulled it out.
I stuck my 9" Carrot in the hole resting the tip on the spot it was laying to measure...standing straight up the top was a healthy 1/2 to 3/4's inch below the top of the dirt and I never scrub the coil so I was at least 1/2 - 1" above the ground swinging over this thing.
Add it up...it was every bit of 10.5 to 11" deep...no exaggeration.
In good dirt I would compare that to a 12-15" target.
At the very edge of the scanning field these Fishers can give you audio reports but the screen usually goes blank...on this thing that never happened.

Just junk but I was thrilled that this coil could get down that deep in my dirt and give a pretty good ID and very accurate depth on a decent target that was actually hiding down there at this level.

I'm a firm believer that if we want the good stuff we're going to have to go deeper than the average bear, one thing you said in your post was you were able to get a signal from all four directions on this deep target which I find curious. In the last year I've been getting better at this these deeper targets and none of the coins I'm finding at 6" or more will give me more than two way signals. Got any ideas on what's going on?
This Sampson shovel sounds like something I need, where did you get yours and how much did it cost?

Yeah, the sharpshooter is awesome. I got a Hunter coil from NEL also and have only had it out once. I am really wanting to get out there but the job has been in the way. That and I am hoping to get back to an early site to push it's limits. I'm betting it hits real deep and I've already noticed it's really similar to the Sharpshooter in the chatter, which I love. The stock coil was almost hard to hunt with after buying the Sharpshooter. As for the post from Still Looking 52, I've dug a lot of holes for signals that only hit two directions and I've only ever gotten rusty nails from them. I'll keep digging them though, maybe one day I'll hit something.

I get many kinds of hits here.
Some one ways, some two ways but it changes from each direction, most of the time these kinds are iron or trash but not every time...I dug them sometimes but sometimes I don't...it happens to much and I would rather look for better more high percentage signals.
If I miss something big deal, I will live with it and maybe find it another time.
The ones like this target, repeating solid behavior from at least two ways I dig every time.
Something this deep with all that good data and a solid tone to hit from all directions is very unusual for me, very rare...I had to go after it.
On a thin, worn V nickel in the same area I got a solid signal once using my 5" sniper also with audio and screen info and it was about 7-8".
This was a bigger target than a coin but still I don't think I have ever dug anything deeper with any coil ever in my dirt.

The NEL is supposed to move better in mineralized soil so that might have been a big deal on this one, that blasted out all metal was also.
I did get a decent hit in disc too, if I switched to boost I probably would have gotten an even more solid hit.

It is dry now so digging isn't easy.
I got my 31" T handle Sampson the best way...I won it for free in my club's end of the year seeded hunt.
It costs about $50-60 usually.
I never used it for years but I hunt with a guy that uses one all the time.
When it got real dry I pulled it out, it penetrates much easier than any hand digger in those conditions.
In moister soil it is a dream, and actually makes more precise and better plugs because of the way it's designed and the pressure you can exert with your leg vs. your arm and wrist.
Getting dirt out of a hole efficiently is much faster too, even on a small hole.
On this target there were some big rocks on the way down, too, we are at the foothills of the Appalachian mountains here so rocks can be an issue.
Digging and prying the big ones out of the way was effortless with this thing, it would have taken much longer with my regular Lesche.
As I said I would have never attempted going that deep with a hand held digger, I would have given up way before I hit close to 9" and the bigger rocks would have done me in, anyway.
Very strong any thick, my buddy actually bent his handle a little trying to pry up some huge boulder or thick root once but he still uses it.
I have seen a couple others post about bending theirs too but like all the products from WW Mfg. they also have a lifetime warranty.
Anyone that ever had any problems even years after they bought them just sent them in and paid freight one way...within a week or so we brand new one was mailed back to them.

I used to feel weird carrying a shovel in parks and only used it in the woods a few times but now I carry it everywhere and never got any comments, weird looks or issues.
It is not a huge thing like a regular shovel and it ultimately works better and faster...on the deep ones for sure.
It was strange carrying it around at first and dealing with it but now I got used to it.
I got a belt clip to hold it with mine but I never use it as I only wear suspenders but it isn't really heavy and balances good whether you hold it in the middle or by the T handle with my free hand.

I am still attempting to get deeper and deeper here in my devil dirt, as I progress this is the exact right tool for that job.

Fine, the snipers are more efficient and a little easier to deal with in sites with trash and iron but I have done well with the 10" using the right settings also.

The 10" elliptical has other super powers...it has a different sweet sound and response them at the DD's don't have and it finds everything but it specializes in jewelry.
I don't use it all the time but I do use it and when I do I enjoy a lot.

I have the Sharpshooter coil for my T2 along with the Snake coil, but it has been so dry here I haven't got to use them yet. I believe they will be great coils for some farm field sites I hunt.
I'm looking at coils for my Teknetics Patriot also. Thinking about trying the Cors Point coil or maybe the Detech 8x6 butterfly coil for the Patriot.
Lesche makes some nice shovels... I have the Sampson shovel for farm fields where the dirt is easier digging and use the Ground Shark shovel for tougher ground and deeper targets.
The new Whites Ground Hawg shovel is very well made and it's a few bucks cheaper than the Lesche shovels. You won't go wrong with any of them.
