This summer is just not getting off to a good start in Colorado

Here is a picture of the fires that are currently going on in Colorado.

The Elbert fire is now out but the rest are still active. Our fire has exploded to at least 2500 acres. We'll find out how much more when they do an infrared fly over tonight to get a better estimate of how much has burned. They have lifted the evacuation order for those living in Manitou Springs but the wind has shifted and this is actually forcing the fire to head south. This could end up creating those that return tonight to possibly have to leave again. With the wind change, Pam and I can now smell the smoke from the Waldo Canyon Fire. It is very hazy throughout the Colorado Springs area now. The winds today were primarily blowing the fire and the smoke towards the north.

Thankfully no people or homes have been lost, so far. And there is no forecast of rain anywhere in Colorado for the upcoming week. As a matter of fact, we are looking at highs in the high 90's along the front range and 100's in may of the areas east of Colorado Springs. It got up to 100 here today and 108 in Pueblo today. We have little to no humidity here and that just fuels the fires all that much more. :sadwalk:

A number of the other fires have destroyed hundreds of homes. Of all the fires going on, only one loss of life has been confirmed. But many of these fires are gonna be life changers for many people.

There is no chance of this particular fire coming close to us but that provides little comfort. Many are gonna be hurting for a long time to come here, especially if they are uninsured.
