This weekend, so far so good

This afternoon the Princess and I went in to town on the high speed ferry which gave us a great view of all the boats that are in the harbour at the end of the Newport to Bermuda Race. We did a little shopping then went for a tour of the US Coast Guard tallship 'The Eagle', a beauty.
We decided it was time to get a digital camera so we used our anniversary as the perfect excuse, bought an Olympus 7.2M waterproof camera (thanks for the good advice Steve and Bia). Finally got a chance to slip down to the beach after dinner for a quick spin. 45 minutes later I've got what I believe to be a 9k monogrammed ring.
The markings read PPL 9 375 <>, any thoughts?
The closest I've found on the net is that PPL is a major jewellery manufacturer in India, so I'm thinking 9k.

The band on the left is 18k that I found on Friday evening along with the hands, heart and crown pendant that used to be gold plated but it's all worn off.

Good Luck to All You Pirates!

All good stuff. The 18K looks brand new. Like you said, da guy has some explaining to do. His wify is not pleased.

I don't think it's from India. They usually like the high-dollar stuff, 18K and higher. As far as I know, the only countries that produce 9K stuff is Canada and England. That ring definitely isn't British, as there are no hallmarks.

If anyone else out there has more/different info, please chip in.

Hello,

I suggest an otterbox enclosure for the camera. Padded, waterproof, shockproof and belt mounted, provides full protection for the camera.
I have it for my Olympus Miu .

Cheers

Allen - I double checked the PPL website and you are right, they specialize in high end gold but I read the fine print and they do mass produce 9k jewellery for foriegn markets. I don't know where my head was last night but I couldn't do the math and convert 9/24 = .375 gold content.

Luca - great idea for the otter case, we have something similar here called a pelican case. The camera is rated shock proof to a drop height of 1.5 meters and submersible to 3 meters but a case is cheap insurance.
