After bb maine's post, almost ashamed to post this mornings hunt finds. But, not quite. :) Hit the big field again with the thought of doing some grid work on a couple of the more productive spots. After about 2 1/2 hours and a clad dime and a wheat cent to show for my grid work, went back to my SUV and popped a fresh battery in the Omega. After a long look out across the field I decided to work towards one of the two trees on the site. I knew Chris had work around one of the trees pretty good yesterday with his down under contraption, so I searched out a ways from that tree not wanting the Omega to sniff out anything good right after ole Chris. Ya, right! Wasn't to long when I dug 4 wheat cents in a row. That slowed me down and then snuck up on 57d Rosie, which was totally on edge. Then, got the scout kerchief slide, the junk ring and the scout arrow badge. 2 Memorial cents and a nickel later, I ran into a clad, 3 quarter coin spill. This was about 10:45 and knew my lawn was begging to be mowed, so started easing my way back towards my vehicle. About 20" from the quarter spill, got a nice high tone lock on 92 reading showing 4" and popped the 44 Washington quarter. Nice when one's last target is a silver. I pulled the plug on the Omega and headed for some lawn mowing. 11" coil, 99 sen, d3 tones today, disc 1 and g b of 57. HH jim tn

Looks like a boy scout exploded at that spot! Question, were you working the big shade area on the ENE side of the tree and @30' away from the trunk? Thats the shadiest spot in the afternoon when the sun is at its hottest? Nobody wants shade in the morning after all...though the ESE to ENE away from and near a big oak is where a squirrel shooter would stand...to bust a tree rat early in the am when they are moving and the sun is lighting them up...funny how we look at trees now...Nice finds there, Jim!

Have you run the LTD there yet ??

Certainly not a letdown jim_tn! And leaving on a silver quarter... definitely makes mowing the lawn a little more palatable. Awesome job!

Mud, these are small trees, but would cast some shade in the afternoon. I have found a lot of scout stuff on the various fields. My grandson used to gather on some as late as just a few years ago. Elton, swung the F 75 on a small area of this field a couple of years ago. Have not used the LTD on it and need to. Some quite deep targets. HH jim tn

Jim, you never cease to amaze me with your detecting skills. Its like your in the big leagues and everyone else is still in little league. I'm dumping the down under machine and going to a lighter unit. I'll be putting the Explorer SE & Quattero machines on Ebay soon.

Jim, way to go.
