& the "hot" Excel does it again! The ground was nice & wet & this tiny 1830 Capped Bust half dime was a nice +21 signal. Took some time to find it in all the muck....but "Gut it dun!"
I think I had only found 3 or 4 bust coins in my life prior to this. This year I have dug 3 already! 2 dimes & this half dime....they were all found in different places too. All have been in real good shape too. Check the front & back details. Has a full liberty & is "as dug" w. some dirt on it still, but ya don't wanna be rubbing these.....

What kind of places are you finding these old coins? Old homesites? Old schools? Just curious. I'm about ready to come up there and hunt with you. Guess I better get over the pneumonia first.

But anyhow, to answer your question.....old homesites for the most part & remember I'm in an area that goes back to the 1600's. Plus, I do work very hard for these things. I'm in the woods, in the mud, cutting brush, removing iron, raking leaves.....I go the extra mile & the last month or so it's really paid off. I was out in the rain the last 2 days with a bag over the Excel getting soaked while most other's were home watching football But the 1/2 dime gut soaked too & was more conductive

Still waiting for the corn to be cut here so I can't hit a promising place. Hunted 2 old homesites down the road from it and didn't get much. Will post some pics in the AM

only because I was hunting a large area & knew I was going to be out there for the day in the rain. So, I wanted a lightweight unit, & a bag fits over the Excel box nicely. No bead of sweat took down my HOT Excel... & it was pouring a couple times. I ran the Excel on sens. 8, & combined with the wet soil I gut super depth, like the "big boys". The axe was a foot down, & the half dime was not a great signal & was in an area that had been hunted alot already.
I try to use all my Fisher units so they don't get dusty They all "git r Dun" & it's fun to switch up. In a big field I like to use my CZ-7a w. the big Sunray coil.......
