They contain mercury...the same stuff that has polluted land and water making many fish unedible. When they realized this they decided to take away mercury containing items from the people....they took away our glass tube thermometers with mercury in them and gave us digital thermometers...that was the good trade.....but now...those new energy saving spiral bulbs contain mercury and have to be recycled or we will be back to mercury poisoning our lands and lakes.
WTG to the government of the people, for the people and by the people....who again force people to use something that is worse for us.

The last major GE factory making ordinary incandescent light bulbs in the United States is closing this month. Congress that set standards essentially banning ordinary incandescents by 2014.
