... but on closer inspection it was just junk. Still, it is always a thrill to find a ring as they have been sparse this year. Anyone else out there find something that they first thought was great only to learn it wasn't?

Yep, many times but although it's initially disappointing, it's still better than not finding anything at all. These day's, they make some awesome looking rings that look so much like the real thing that turn out to be gold plated with CZ's and just for a short time, your all revved up thinking it's a payday......then reality sets in!!! But with metal detecting, there will always be another day and another location though!!
