Threshold on GT

Hello all, I have a Sovereign GT that i have had about 4 months now (still learning) I hunt mostly old home sites in open farm fields. My question is this, when hunting with slight threshold and the threshold nulls do I need to wait for the threshold to return to continue hunting or will it still find targets while it is nulled ? Thanks.

I've read of some guys doing a test on this and they said a non-iron target WILL sound off even while the Sovereign is in a null. A nulling out threshold is the result of one of three things: First would be your sensitivity is set too high. Before lowering it try slowing down your swing even further. Second would be that you are swinging too fast. The worse the ground or the higher the sensitivity the slower you need to be swinging the detector. If you swing too fast the threshold can null even if the sensitivity is set right and not too high. Third would be of course that iron is present.

Even though some say it will sound off to a target through a null I would simply slow my sweep speed to almost a stop until the threshold returns to be safe if you are trying to really work an area and pick targets out of iron.

I just hunted a farm field for 2 days with my GT 80 acres there is no such thing as a iron free farm field for every good target you located there is at least 10 iron targets i hunt with iron mask on !!! my hunt starts out with the normal Threshold with in minutes i get the null sound and that sound will stay there until you hit a non-iron target and i always swing low n slow ,so it,s no biggie get used to it it makes no differance to me if i pass the coil over silver or copper the GT will sound off just fine , in the fields i hunt if i dug every iron target that nulled i would need a back brace by the end of the day having the meter in my control box hip mounted helps alot :detecting: GH Jim
