......Yesterday,I seen an ad in the Sunday paper about them coin/gold/silver buyers, travelin around,to buy your items.......WELL,they said starting tomorrow, they will be in a town 'bout 10 miles away......SO:I hunted down my old coins/jewelry/flatware that have been packed away, since my divorce, and found QUITE A TROVE of old silver halves-SOME up near collector quality, right out of the ground-Barber,Mercury dimes(around 40 all together!!),old Jefferson/Buffalo/Canadian nickles(about 40 of them, too!);LOTS of good, old quarters,3 Indian Head,1 Canadian penny,-only thing anywhere new is a 1964 Kennedy half, the rest from the late 20's,to the late 50's.....A 1954-Year of my birth- collector set of Proof 50c,25c,10c,5c,and penny from 1954,sealed in a plastic case. Also,a bag of mixed earrings, crosses, chains,AND a bag of mixed OLD flatware, some marked "STERLING"......My pride and joy of this collection is my 1941 and 1942 Walking Liberty Halves,in plastic sleeves-and,they are WAY UP near AU,I would guess.....some of them Mercury Dimes,TOO-JUST LIKE NEW,dug out of the ground.....The lion's share of these coins I found at that old beach club,my in-laws belong to-
SADLY,I believe that detecting location was closed to me for good,as my wife and I are divorced,now...I COULD call him, though, worth a try, wont know if its YES or NO,until I do.)The owner told me that this particular beach had been in use for the last 100+years,and that they had a HUGE end of WW2 party there, sometime at the end of 1945........THAT explains why,all the old silver I found there, was from the late 30's,to the mid 40's........ALL the Mercs, and Halves, except for the Franklin Half, and 64 Kennedy half I dug up there........YOU JUST WOULD NOT BELIEVE how them old coins started coming up,one after the other.......THAT beach was also where I found 3 silver, and 1 gold ring,3"deep,in a 12"diameter circle.Actually,it is a series of THREE beaches;the oldest one taken over by BIG BLACK water snakes
-NO,I did NOT rub elbows with them,in the wet......I JUST MIGHT call the owner of that beach,though...I will let y'all know what them coin people say.............Warthog Steve..........PS:When I first started hunting this locale, the owner told me in the past, some other"detectorists"told him they had;"CLEANED THE PLACE OUT"
............MUST HAVE USED A VACCUUM CLEANER,INSTEAD OF A DETECTOR,as all of these coins were right at the 3" depth level, except for the old silver coins in the water,12"deep in the clay.............
