Tids

Well I'm convinced I was hunting in a woods today and got a 6-8 signal @ around 4" not much around there was hitting so I open the hole and rescanned and signal went to 32 thought cool a piece of copper.
Well it is copper alright a 1864 2 cent piece I was awed thought it was a V nickle at first then got home and cleaned it up enough to see the date and the 2 cents on the back.
Now I know not to trust the TIDS to a point. The 2 center is pretty crusted up with petina so now I need to get a way to safely clean it up.
I was in a corn field earlier in the morning and pulled my first standing liberty quarter a 1925 and 192? something wheat penny.
So two first for me today and a good lesson on the TIDS.
It just gets better and better.

I've had similar experiences with the numbers. If I get a repeatable " signal or sound" with any number I usually dig it! Sometimes the numbers change quite alot when you open up the hole. Very nice finds! Congrats!!:clapping:

Congrats on the great finds. I hope you can clean up that 2 cent piece a bit more. Perhaps electrolysis or a few months in olive oil?? I agree about TID's.
I often get memorial signals in the 42-44 range?? I think that depth has a lit to do with it.

Chuck

Congrats on the sweet finds! A 2 Cent coin is great, and a SLQ with a nice readable date is sweet also, Beale.

I think the obverse of the US 2-cent piece is one of the more beautiful coins ever minted, having the words "In GOD We Trust" appear on a coin for the first time. It is a tough find, considering they only made them for 10 years. And that Standing Liberty quarter is very nice as well. Most of mine don't have nearly that clear of date. I would encourage you to not sell the TID "short". Since the coin read a solid 32 when you pulled some of the dirt away, I'd be more apt to think there was some ferrous type material above the coin than the two-center giving erroneous information. Regardless, you pulled out a couple nice coins. Congrats. HH Randy

I found the two center in a woods There could have been something else there I don't know, But I found a rock not long ago that rang up iron with a 32 or 36 signal , it was a piece of copper embedded in the rock
Useing the 10" 7.5 khz. DD coil that convinced me of the seperation ability of this coil.
Here is a pic of the rock I posted it here not long ago .

WOW, congrat's on the two great finds. The 2 center is one coin that you do not find very often, if you ever do find one.

I agree with Randy, their had to be something else in the hole with the 2 center to bring those numbers down that low. I've found a few 2 centers and the numbers were always in the penny to dime range.
