Tiger Shark and Vaquero

First of all let me state that I'm not very knowledgeable on detectors in general.

That said, I started into this hobby with a Tiger Shark and have been using it for about 4 years. I love the machine and I'm use to it's sounds and behavior. Last year I finally purchased another machine the Vaquero.
It has been real hard for me to get use to it.
I've noticed it is much harder for me to tell what I may be digging and the disc acts much different then my Tiger Shark. One of the things that I can't get use to is how slow I must swing it compared to the Tiger Shark. I do not think that I'm swinging the TS that fast and it will even pick up extremely small objects, like bb's, bobby-pins and small earrings. Now the Vaquero on the other hand will miss these items. Unless I slow the swing down to a crawl.
I usually run the Vaq with the stock coil but also have the 5.75 widescan coil.

I would be interested if anyone else has an opinion or experience with the Vaq.
I've been seriously thinking about trading the Vaquero in for an Outlaw.
I really want to love my Vaquero.

Sandtick, I'm not sure why you are missing small objects with your Vaquero....might be your ground balance is off. My Vaquero has amazed me at the tiny objects is has found at 5 to 6 inches deep.
I see no reason to trade it off unless you just want an Outlaw. The Vaquero is supposed to be deeper than the Outlaw. Check to see if you are ground balancing the Vaquero correctly and give it some more time, it's a keeper for sure.

This is the YouTube video that I recommend you watch on the Vaquero :

I agree that ya should allow yourself more time to learn the V -its a very good machine.I have one as a back up to my lobo.if ya think back ya probably spent many hrs with the TS before mastering it.keep with it and your not in a race so what does it matter if ya go slow.the main thing is to enjoy yourself.

Thanks everyone for your input. Especially for the video, it was very informative and it will help me out. I also called and talked to Rusty from Tesoro tonight. I've come to the conclusion that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my Vaquero. I just need to be patient and really listen to what the detector is telling me.

Now I'm a little excited to get back out there and try it out some more.
Thanks again!

I run V and TS. Love both of them. My V is able to find tiniest metal pieces at moderate depth. Believe you need some time to accommodate your ears to V.
