Tips on finding gold rings

Gold Chains come in a little lower than a ring, from 45 to 51 and most of the time it's in a ball.

Come on folks.Give us your tips for finding gold rings.......Jack

OK, I'll give it a go...great thread by the way..I didn't know PLATINUM falls in iron! necklaces, bracelets, rings...all have been somewhat "bastard" signals..with the exception of silver rings of course. you know those aluminum wires they use on chain link fence? a heavy silver chain bracelet makes the same noise and target Ident number. but if you dug all those signals along a chain link fence, you would only find wires...boiled down and its been said here before, LOCATION and practice...I ran into an experienced detectorist on one of my first times out that told me to "dig every pull tab signal, and 1000 zinc pennies" I found two class rings last summer, both girls, both returned, one at a beach, (lost maybe a week) and one in center field not deep center mind you, right where a girl would be playing, sweating, and throwing a ball..(lost in 96) I think his advice was sound for this reason, after digging all that junk, a guy starts looking at the terrain a little more, and anaylizing the signal differently...why is this pulltab in center field, and why are there no others nearby? I ask myself, where is the most likely spot a girl would be here, in the shade of that tree? where would she go to the bathroom out here on the beach, in the water, or up there in that private clump of brush? Heres signs of a bonfire, complete with nails and bottle caps...whats the shortest path to the water when a drunken person at night would run, while peeling off their clothes and yelling "skinnydip"! Whats the shortest and easiest route to this spot from a parked car? Anyway, I got six silver rings off of one soccer field this summer, You know the bummer about rings in the dirt? They are tough to locate with a probe! you can stab around and not hit them, so that usually means to try to stay at it until you do. I'd say the beaches and water yield better odds for obvious reasons, retrieval being easier as well, But you know dang good that those small foil signals where the cheerleaders jump and tumble on a football field are worth a look. (she is cute eh?)

Certain types of people wear big gold, get good at identifying the other signals they leave behind, and you will find their gold too...like, menthol cigarette butts, certain brands of beer cans and bottle tops, condom wrappers at "parking" spots...9mm shell casings...drug deal hangouts..basketball courts....just sayin' Now, some of these locations are very dangerous and have to be hit early in the am, on windy rainy days, and even then for not very long...you will find cash at these spots too! besides the gold, I found over 30 bucks in bills last summer and a five this winter. I've been trapped up on the dry ground, with my original detector (F70) not being water compatible, but did get my hands on a CZ 20 this winter, so I will sweep the dry early, and then get in the water once the World wakes up...I would sure love to hookah in a sailboat marina! Sailors wear gold! And maybe I can make some extra jack scrubbing the bottoms of their boats as well! HH!

The rings or the girl? :inlove:

A saying I have heard since I started detecting 35 years ago is............He who digs the most....finds the most.......Jack
