Not sure if this was discussed yet but, tonight on NGC, National Geographic Channel, there's a new show called "Diggers". Looks like a show involving metal detecting. Just saw the preview and thought I'd get the word out. 10pm

Great!!

If I only had a tv-set..
But maybe I can find it via computer.

Thanks for info.

Mike

Yep, already got the DVR set up to record it. I haven't seen the preview but I'm hoping it's realistic and the guys offer insight into their methods and are respectful with their digging technique. I saw a post in the findmall general metal detector topic section about a new show on Spike TV where the relic hunters were going to use heavy duty excavating equipment. I think I'll steer clear of that one.

Very lame show and unfortunately will get some get rich quick schemers into our hobby until they discover the work and lack of good finds in real metal detecting. No proper techniques used in recovery. Will probably sell some AT Pro's though.

The "Diggers" on the TV show both had AT-Pro's.

Hmm...

I would have used my XT-70 and I own both.

Good Hunting

They did not use a Xterra, Minelab would not sponser a wanker show like that!!!!! Mark

Watched both episodes and was extremely disappointed in the show. First of all, they seemed to "invent" a whole new MD'ing language that I have never heard used on this site or any others, i.e. "juice" for a find! "roundness" for a coin or other round object! Also, the show seemed to be covertly sponsored by Garrett since they were using Garret Phones and detectors, although I do not have a problem with that since I respect Garrett products. Also, because it was a TV show, they got instant access to many many places that we normal detectors would only dream of. Also because they were trying to appeal to an audience far beyond just MD'ers, they laid the dramatics and clowning on very heavy which really turned me off. I am sure that a half hour of hanging around with Randy or other experienced MD's would have been far far more informative and interesting. Thumbs down for me.

I have to say that the show only held my interest because I wanted to see what was next but I kind of felt like I was watching the two guys from Auction Hunters but with metal detectors.

I really think that they were trying to spice up the show to make it more interesting but they went about it the wrong way. They could have cut out all of the games and and slang that i don't expect that any of us really use and added more "real" content which would have made the show more interesting.

I give National Geographic Channel credit for buying the show from the production company but sometimes when that's all you have to pick from as a network, that's what you go with. I doubt there will be a second season of a show with these guys but maybe just knowing that a network would be interested in a show like that will be enough reason for another production company to come up with something better.

Have been selling DVD's on Ebay for a couple of years.I guess they think "Diggers" is their big break. I'm just glad that I have sites that I have hunted for years now and consider them to be "Relic Banks". I have locked in my sites for awhile.

I have to say that I was disappointed, these guys are putzes! I don't know about you, but that doesn't even closely represent a day of detecting for me. The goofy slang, the jumping around like fools, riding bikes into cold water, licking a dead jellyfish .. come on, lets get real here. I guess if we were worried that it would spawn a bunch of newbies going out and buying detectors, we don't have to worry. These guys give us a bad name! I hope it gets better, that is if it doesn't disappear all together.

I recorded a couple of shows, and haven't had time to watch them. Sounds like I might be wasting my time!
