Today's 7hr hunt out in the woods lookin for iffy's.

Well today my buddies & I went out to 3 different sites out in the woods. All but 1 of my coins were iffy signals. My first 2 finds were Wheaties and both were found in an old party spot that was filled with beaver-tails. I was just going slow trying to pick through all of the low tones looking for old nickels when I got a 1 way high pitch. Same with both, I tried to isolate them as best I could but it was too trash to use "pinpoint" as it would pull me away from the high pitch so I just dug where I though they were and lucked out and didn't need to dig a big plug. After about 2 hours we were heading back to the cars when I was about 20 feet away I got a 1 way screamer that in one swing buried itself in the right corner then on the return swing it bounced over to iron. The depth was only like 4 inches max so I figured it was a clad quarter. I dug down and missed the target (I couldn't use the pinpoint, same as before) so I used my probe and in the side of the hole I found the coin. I brushed away some dirt with my hand and saw a silver edge standing on end, I said "sweet another silver Washington". I pulled it out and checked it, it was my first Barber quarter for the year!!!

The 2nd site no one found anything after an hour so we bumped to our 3rd site. Once there we started off and about 20 min in one of my bud's found a Barber dime in EF+ shape then 2 feet away he found another one!!! Well I was about 15 or 20 feet away when I got another bouncing penny signal and I was sure it was an IH. I was able to pinpoint it, when I dug it up there was a piece of slag in the hole with it, it was just another Wheatie. Later I was wandering around when I got a solid dime hit but it was on the surface. Actually it was just under a patch of moss, I just lifted up the moss and saw a tiny black disk standing on end and thought "how in the heck is a clad dime way out here in the middle of nowhere???" I rubbed it with my glove and saw that it was my 3rd Barber dime for the year!!! Later I found another Wheatie right in the middle of an iron patch. This was my first hunt where I found 2 Barbers!!!

Our group of 5 hunters we pulled:
1 Barber quarter
3 Barber dimes
3 Mercs
1 silver Rosie
and probably 15 Wheaties
and a few old buttons

Great job Fiend. Congrats on the multiple Barber day. Such a great feeling isn't it?

You have been working hard at getting those finds and deserve them. :clapping:

Thanks, a lot of time I see 1 person posting all of these from just a 2 or 3 hour hunt. I wish there was still and abundance of old coins around here, we have to hunt all day and settle for the few meager finds that we come up with but its still fun as hell!!! I hope to get a multiple barber day again sometime soon!!! LOL
