Today's desert trek

Well all we got was tired bodies and a lot of neat scenery. It's hard to find things after so many years. We went to 2 old ghost towns today , had pics of the original site with living places, etc but just could not find stuff. Here's the old jail.

Was there a lot of trash? The GT's that I have hit had a TON of trash. Thats were I sure wish I had a smaller coil, like a 4, 6 or 7 incher to get around the junk.

J.

ps. Glad you still had a nice trip and a good time!

are you still thinking about taking a trek up this way in the near future?

an area that beautiful and historic didn't produce anything :) Wow... I'd love a shot at hunting a place like that even if there was nothing there! By the way, how hard is that ground? Are we talkin' shovel or pick axe?

Ground is not hard at all. Just rocky in places. With all the rainfall in the area things are good digging. Not back east soft - just good :) Steve

J - We are still thinking of it - with all we have on the agenda I dont know when tho. My uncle lives in Lodi, Cal - we could visit them along the way also. I'll surely contact you when we decide to come that way. Steve

At some sites there was a lot of trash. I had to change from my Fisher 1266 to my 1280 to lessen it. Old mining areas are usually littered with tin cans, sheet metal, etc. At some CW forts I have done there's a lot of junk metal also - have switched to my Shadow X2 to eliminate it. I do get a fair amount of goodies but always wonder what the 1266 would have produced. Steve

...I would love to just be there...I have always wanted to visit a ghost town. Do you figure that it has been heavily hunted? I guess it would have been by now but it seems like there would have to be something left behind.

Those are great photos and I would like to see some more. Do you have more pics on-line?
