Today's finds 4.27

This morn. I went to my fav. tot lot and had a decent day. I found 2 dimes, 4 penny's and some junk. But my best find was my last. I was detecting by an old tree when my Ace 250 went nuts. So I pulled out my trusty PP and started to push aside the wood chips and a layer of dirt and there it was. A plaque to a local fire company. Covered up and buried. Well I cleaned off the entire plaque and took a pic on my cell phone since I couldn't bring it home. Enjoy!!

It could make for an interesting story

Joel, There are several of these plaques at the park. They are all by larger trees. I am guessing that the trees were donated by the people and they put a plaque in place to signify that. Not all the trees have plaques. Were most likely put in when the park was put in. The White Horse Fire company was started in 1914 after a Sept. 13, 1913 fire that started in a barn by some local children. The devastation that followed because of South Western winds was 3 houses, 7 barns, a carriage house and several hay stacks were ruined. The call went out to 5 surrounding fire company's but it was too late. So the White Horse fire company was formed. That is as much as I know.
