I went out yesterday to a 1950-80's abandoned resort down the street and hunted around the pool area. Tons of clad with only one 50's wheat. This place is about to be bulldozed and redeveloped. I pulled about about 5 bucks in change before I got tired of digging.
Today I went back to an 1838 farmsite on the other side of town and hunted the frontyard north-south/east-west that I've hunted to death with my CZ-70 and 3D. I wanted to see what the Explorer(with the 8 inch coil) would make me want to dig that I didn't with the others. Mind you, this place is full of iron. I hunted in IM -16, wide open, sensitivity of 27, ran super smooth. The first coin I dug was a super nice minimally worn and corroded 1916 Buffalo(not double die) which read 10-05 about 8 inches down, loud and clear. Later I pulled a 1919 wheatie about 7 inches down 00-29 or so in the iron. I also pulled a button that says double gilded No 2 on the back, and some other relics. I found the top of an old coin purse that got me real excited until I checked the hole with no other signals. I dug all repeatable midtone and high tone signals. Not a bad day overall for my second time out. I'm thinking about trying the 10 1/2 coil next over the same area to see what happens. This is a great site that I've pulled out 10 silver dimes and a beaut 1920 Walking Liberty half along with an 1863 R-7 civil war token...sorry no pics...I updated to Windows XP;still waiting for the new drivers...HH
