My buddy and I hit an old park this forenoon, one that has been hit mighty hard over the years, but still gives up a goodie here and there. We opted to search its big field and since the older coins are now usually rather deep, we both used larger coils. He had on his 5 x 10dd on his DST F 75 and I used the 11" on mine.

First off, the 2 buffalo nickels shown I got at an old school on Sun afternoon. I dug 9 nickels in total that day including the 2 no date Buffs. This morning I managed to get my coil over a 41 Merc and a 43p war nickel. Had a decent nickel day again, but did dig more tab tails and ring tabs then nickels. If it is anywhere in the nickel range, bouncy or otherwise, I've been digging. Nickels with some depth tend for me to be rather bouncy, but some seem to have a bit of a thunk to them and do sound a little bigger then the tab tales. I was at DST 90, used both de and bp modes, 0 disc and 90 sen.

Although our temps are in the 80's during the day, there just seems to be a bit of a feel of fall in the air. A couple more good soaking rains and we will be set for some good fall hunting. HH jim tn

Now that is a nice hunt Jim. Good detecting......Z

That silver is getting hard to find, like you were saying with some soaking rains maybe this fall we can get our pockets full. Nice finds Jim.

Nice going, Jim...your soil does look very dry (as ours is most of the time). Hope you get the rain needed to make those deeper holes easier. HH
