Was able to get out for 2 hrs this afternoon with the Omega before I had to leave and do a family thing, ended up with $2.50, one of the finds was one of the new $1.00 coins, first one of those I've ever found, but hopefully not the last you sure could run up a $ total finding a bunch of them. :detecting:

n/t

Same thing here or ask for them at the bank, I'm with jim lets get rid of the $1 bills so we'll all have more $1 coins to find.

Hey it's got my vote.

Me too ! :super:

It's too bad that paper money only costs 4 cents to make. They say the average life of a $1 bill is 10 months. Not sure the cost of a $1 coin, but if nickels cost 6 cents to make.

Now that I think about it. It would make more sense to only use $1 coins. A coin will stay in use for an average of 30 years.

The Canadians are way ahead of us on this one.

I think the big problem they keep having with out $1 coins is they look and are shaped to much like a quarter, if the mint would so something to make them more distinctive I think they might catch on but till they do I don't think we'll be seeing many in use or found while out mding. Jimmie

I think the only reason for keeping 1 cent coins are for taxes. Pretty hard for politians to jump five cents at a time. I know they get there but it does not scare you as much doing 1 cent or 2 cents at a time....Jack
