Todays stroll in the woodlands.

Got myself into a target rich patch and dug a few goodies among a good bit of trash. Not sure about the age of the 2 Eagle buttons, but they had a bit of depth and came out of the ground in pretty good shape. Also dug 2 IH cents, 1895 and 1897, along with a 1901 V nickel. These 3 coins were within 5" of each other. Maybe dropped at the same time. Got some lead and a small mini drop, a couple of keys and out of yesterdays hunt I got the 1967 large One Penny and the Princess Pat rouge container. That design apparently was in use from 1902-1951 from what I can tell from a little quick research. F 75 LTD with 11dd coil. Merry Christmas everyone. HH jim tn

Nice finds! It always suprises me how many goodies you guys find in the unbeaten forest... Or maybe I'm wrong, and these areas are more used than I'm picturing. :)

I live right next to the rocky mountains. While I haven't tried detecting in the forest, my first thought would be coming out empty handed unless it's was a heavily travelled path or walk. But maybe I'm wrong. :)

HH and Merry Christmas!

Egan, this woodland has been used for over 150 and particularly heavy around the turn of the century to modern times. HH jim tn

Way to go Jim. The only thing I'm finding is horseshoes, bullets, old knives and a few wheat pennies. Now I did get to talk to a couple of gals in the woods that you have been showing your stuff to.:)

Now that's funny. I thought that they were talking about some coins he had found, but come to think about they did seem very excited when they were talking about Jim.

Let's not forget about the story Jim told us about the pretty young girl setting on a log in the woods wearing nothing but a bikini with the ground white with snow.:)

What a guy! Walking around showing his junk to scantily clad snow angels! Metal detecting indeed!

You guys are killing me. I hope my wife doesn't read this forum. She will certainly wonder why I am in the woods so much. But, one just never knows what one will actually find out in them there woodlands. And, it isn't all junk!!!!!! Merry Christmas all. HH jim tn

Gad Jim you sure are hitting those I H's. Those are some good finds. But like the rest of the guys. We all agree the bikini clad snow angle is the best find of the year. Maybe Fisher will send you a gift certificate for that find? By the way you can take a picture of a old coin and junk on the ground but the picture that would of put you in the books for the most unbelievable find. You never got a picture of?? I suppose standing there with your mouth open  with a blank look on your face, :yikes: you probably never even had a thought in your mind let alone thought about taking a picture. We understand Jim. :rage: All is forgiven. ;) Merry Christmas.....Z
