Today's XLT Finds

I hit an old fort site out here today for about 5 or 6 hours of digging. I started out using my Bandito II mm. For some reason the thing was having fits with iron and was really chattering. I have done well with it at this site before, so I'm wondering if something was wrong with my machine. After about 2 hours of digging I only had one button and a few bullets to show for my effort. I then switched to my XLT and dug the rest of this stuff and a bunch of bullets and casings. The coin was a nice suprise, as they don't seem to come out of these forts sites out here real often.

Tell us a little about the site. Is it an active fort? What is it like where you hunt, woods, open area, around buildings? What state are you in?
We hunt a fort here and I love finding the buttons. Most of them are not too old, but every now and then we'll find one that's maybe WWI. What's the year on the Indian?
Your finds make me want to get out there again. I haven't been able to for the past 3-4 weeks.
Good hunting,
Eddie

The fort was used from late 1860's to mid 1880's. And is now an open field on private property. The Indian is 1886.

those are some great buttons you got there!! Way to go!

Nice finds, Jason! Approximately how deep were the targets? Nice variety of buttons.
