Tone question....Dumb?

Sleepyjim

Member
I get these tones that seem...Echoed or Hollow or something, they are different than the other 99%....

Been diggin them and no goodies, anybody else hear these? (I got bad hearing).....Never heard this on any other detector, was wondering....

No dumb questions! To me, that's what the "overload" tone sounds like. It's a really loud, echoing ping. Let me ask a couple of questions.
1) Are you using the horseshoe? Is it full, meaning the item is at/near the surface?
2) When you say you been digging, but no goodies, do you mean you're not finding anything? Or not finding anything worth keeping? :)
It is often my experience that with an item on the surface it can actually be difficult to pinpoint because it sounds off so loud, so consistently, and across such a large area of the coil!

Well, those are my $.02. Let's see what others have to say.

I get them too but I have never paid attention to what they turn out to be. I will dig some and try to make note of them.

I am talking about the short hollow sounds. Pulltabs sound short and hollow but they will also hit a little different from the opposite direction. As you learn the Deus you can learn how to size the target. Then there is the crushed aluminum can that is also hollow. That's one of those that you just lift the coil and you know.

True Dat! :)

So several good possibilities. Looking forward to hearing back.

Going out in the morning and will note what is going on if I can duplicate it....
