Tonight's Finds found with the Joey Coil. Got into a Repoed House Yard.:detecting:

New member
I was working up in Hunter, N.D. today troweling Concrete and there was a house across the alley from where I was working. The owner of the property that I was troweling Cement on came out and I asked him about who owned the house across from him. He said that the Bank had it and that the house had been repoed twice. Cha-Ching! Then I asked him about a huge vacant lot next to his property and he said the guy that owned it lived across the alley from it. I stopped in and talked with the guy for a while trying to get permission but he had a friend a long time ago with a detector and he knew exactly what I was looking for. He denied me permission at first but after talking with him, he told me he wouldn't mind me doing the entire lot. The only catch was that he be present when I am detecting it. I told him that was fine and he said to stop by tomorrow night around 7:00pm to give it a try. He said he has been thinking of getting a detector himself because of the finds his friend use to make with his detector. I guess his friend was called to duty and he died due to a Parachute Malfunction. I am hoping that he will let me keep some of the finds and just give me the go ahead with out being present every time I am there. He is also planning on building on the site in the next few weeks so I told him I would like to go over the area where he is building at first and also when he has the top layer taken off. Now back to the Repoed House Yard. I ended up finding 3 Silver Coins here. They were 1 Barber Dime with Liberty dated 1912 which was only 2" deep, and 2 Mercury Dimes dated 1916-s and 1942-s. I also found 1 older Jefferson Nickel dated 1948-d. For Pennies I found 1 Indian Head dated 1901 (which was the deepest so far at 9"), and 7 Wheat Pennies dated 1916-d,1917,1919-d,(2)1944-d,1953-d, and 1956-d. I also dug a few Misc. Items. They are 1 Dick Toy Cap Gun, 1 Clip-On Earring, 1 Button, 5 Different Keys, and a Junk Ring which was next to the 1948-d Jefferson Nickel. I also found some kind of Tag that could have gone on a Tie or something that says Nu-Way Police Patented on it. Hope you are having some luck like me and if not Good Luck and HH. Until next time![attachment 57959 Silver.jpg][attachment 57960 Nickel.jpg][attachment 57962 IndianHeadCent.jpg][attachment 57963 WheatPennies.jpg][attachment 57956 Misc..jpg][attachment 57957 Ring.jpg]

I found a toy gun exactly like that some years ago. I would suppose it has to do with Dick Tracy. (or Dick Cheney, sorry couldn't resist)

You made some great finds,Those Barber dimes are getting harder to find.Silver in general is hard to find.Good luck with the lot,and bring along a extra detector for that guy to use and keep him busy while you hunt.

"KEY-DATE" coin. Northern Nevada coins (Brokencc.com) has one that is certified almost good for over $700.00 :drinking: I would have it graded by PCGS or NGC. Great finds James ND :super:

You must have been really excited when you seen my post and made the mistake of reading my post wrong. Don't worry though, we all make mistakes sometimes. They still are fun to find though! Thanks for the post and Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

Sure would be nice to have another Explorer with and set it to Ferrous Tones and let him dig everything. I don't think I could do that but it wouldn't surprise me if it has been done before by other detectorist's. I am hoping he will give me the go ahead and let me just detect the entire Lot since he doesn't own a detector and I really doubt he even has extra time to even spend detecting due to working at an Elevator and loading and unloading farm trucks. Hope to hit Pay Dirt when I get into that Lot. And yes, Silver is getting Scarcer and Scarcer. Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

The finds are tough to get if you don't ask permission or don't do the research on sites. Going to balldiamonds and such eventually dwindle out and makes it harder and harder to recover great finds like these. But with a little patience and getting permission from private owners, you can still find a few goodies like these. Good Luck Tony this weekend if you are able to get out and HH.:detecting:

There is a decal on top of the Coil towards the front and when you Pinpoint an item, it is directly under this decal. I have seen this Coil pick up a Seated Dime at 10" without a problem. It could have been the hallow around the Coin that made it possible to reach that kind of depth, but the Indian Head Penny last night gave a good enough signal to tell a user that there was definitely something under the Coil. The Coil is a lot lighter than the Stock Coil and it is a breeze to swing. Only thing is that if you want it Waterproof, you will have to Silicon the Cable entry into the Coil to make this possible. I use the Joey Coil often when in Iron Infested Areas or Trashy Environments and it seems to pick thru the Trash well enough to snipe the Goodies. Hope this info is of help KCK and Good Luck and HH to you.

It was found in a ditch just under about an inch of dirt and grass. I am hoping to make a few more nice discoveries from this yard when I return later on today. Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

I tend to get excited myself when I see someone else on the Forum finding some very nice Coins, Jewelry, or Relics. Makes me want to get out there and start detecting. Thanks for the response and hope you have some Good Luck and HH this weekend.
