Too Tired to Dig

All this talk about being able to detect deeper to find better stuff is fine, but what if you can't dig deep enough? I have a Fisher 1225x, and it works great, no complaints. I also spent 30 dollars for a Gator digging tool. Problem is, sometimes I locate a deep target, but I run out of gas before getting to it. After hacking my way through several inches of tree roots, rocks, and other subterrainian debris, sometimes I just up and crap out before getting to the target. Nothing more frustrating than locating a good target, then not being able to get to it. I really don't need a detector that will detect at greater depths. I need a personal lackey who will follow me around while I hunt, carrying my extra gear, and then digging up the target while I take a break. Don't suppose I can really afford that though. #####.

HI
I will dig something, and when the hole gets to
big and I to tired I just give up, and move on..............
for about 5 seconds, and then it bugs me to much and I have to know whats
in the hole, and that's me back diging!
I just cant let it go!

The wife???....gosh my dog sure has strong legs, but can't teach him....

Be careful, Dan ... I'm a wife and I use my own detector and dig my own holes ... I would think if he was gonna get his wife to dig, she'd be digging her own holes directed by her own detector ... lol ...HOWEVER ... children seem to have a knack for wanting to dig those holes, but roots and rocks aren't in their scope of patience. )-:

Yeah, exactly. I'll give up after a while, but then it just ruins the whole rest of my day, thinking about what I left behind and berating myself for being too lazy to dig it up. Anyway, I live in New England. Except for the beaches, anyplace you try to dig will be a challenge. The ground is extremely rocky. I'm talking you can't get one shoveful of dirt without fighting rocks. Kinda gives you a healthy respect for your ancestors who had to make a living by farming this area. Sure makes target retrieval hell though.

Get my son to dig for me?!!!
My son, who is 18, thinks I'm just a cranky, somewhat senile old man who does weird things like wandering off into the woods for hours at a time, digging holes looking for little bits of old junk. The only "help" I'll get from him will be the day he puts me in a nursing home.

Actually we have a husband and wife team in our area where the husband locates the target and the wife retrieves it. Sort of a joint effort..If I asked my wife would be in the local hospital having it extracted. Gosh I have met some excellent female detectorists and no offense meant or indicated on my part..

Sure have a good digging tool and carrying a serrated knife to slash thru roots helps. Personally if I get a deepie have to get it. Once dug a 15 inch tip of a copper tea pot. Actually took a break and went back to my car for my monster digger. Would I do again..yep...its all part of the hobby...

That reminds me of the "All in the Family" episode where Edith is complaining to Archie that they never do anything together. Archie's response is, "Okay, you go get a beer from the fridge, and I'll drink it. There, how's that? We did something together."

I know .... I was just funnin with you, too! <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol">

I hunt with a husband & wife a good bit. I hunt with the husband every weekend and his wife comes along when she doesn't have to work. Both have their own detectors but I don't think it was always that way.
