I was sitting around the house not knowing if we were going to Traverse City for sure or not. Kinda frustrating when ya know ya have someplace to go but you wait on someone else who is waiting on someone else who is waiting on someone else. I was waiting on Sherry. Sherry was waiting on a call, email or something from a guy in TC who is supposed get an order together for Sherry, and since we didn't hear from him in the past few days we can only surmise he is waiting on someone else to bring in the items needed....like I say 'frustrating'.
I mentioned going detecting if we weren't going TC today. Shortly afterwards, Sherry said to go detecting as Mike suggested (cuz I have too much time on my hands
) So even though I had told Warthog I wouldn't be going out detecting and probably taking the batteries out of the detectors...well sorry Steve...I went after all.
Went to the ball field Steve and I have detecting in a few times. Picked up 5 more Wheat pennies. 2 the dates were unreadable on. One was another 1919, another was a 1944 and the other a 1941.
I heard myself saying "Thank you God, I'll take it." As I pulled a coin out of the ground and cleaned enough dirt off it to see it was this:

1898 is the date.
This is the first pre-1900 coin I have found up here. (I know there are other old coins around because one of the guys at church is always showing me pre-1900 coins he has found). This is my 2nd V nickel...first was found in Lansing at an old school that MSU has for teaching college students.
I also found a whatchamcallit. It read on the Minelab as no Ferrous and about 24 Conductivity. Looks like part of some electrical iten as it has a short wire hanging off it.
Stayed only til noon as I still didn't know if we are going to TC today or not...now quarter to 1 and still not sure. Hope everyone gets out to do some detecting.
