Took my 1350 on it's first hunt!

I took my 1350 out "tectin" my loot isn't much, but please consider that I am digging in frozen ground. I have been retrieving my targets with a screw driver and a hammer. Many of them, I had to drive the screw driver into the ground with an eastwing hammer to retrieve them! I had to be careful while pinpointing, as I didn't want to drive the screw driver into my coins, as you can see I didn't judge correctly on two of them! But, I had a great time.:clapping::garrett::usaa:

A nice haul for frozen ground. Looks like you are learning quickly with your 1350. Congrats :thumbup:
 
How do you like the profiling?.....I found it quite accurate for coin size objects and faster then the GTI series. With the GTI series, you have to be dead center for accuracy on size, whereas the GTP 1350 is a little more forgiving and even simpler because you only have 3 sizes to deal with.
 
I love the Profiling. I would say you are right, it is dead on most of the time. It seems like I get more depth when in jewelry mode? Maybe it's just my imagination. I did figure out that on my machine when I get a hit on a dime at segment 8 it usually turns out to be a penny, but, when it hits on 8.5 it's almost always a dime! Most of my quarters I hit at 5-6 inches. No silver yet, I'm a little disappointed by that, in due time I guess. I really like the profiling feature, I can say I will probably get addicted to that little feature. The Garrett pro-pointer has been worth it's weight in gold for me, as I have been digging in frozen ground where digging 2 inches is a chore let a lone 6! I just love that little bugger. I can tell you John, I passed up digging quite a few targets because the profiling said they were bigger than a coin. So far I would say Garrett hit a home run with this machine, in my humble opinion. I am having a ball with it and I'd say I have only taken it out 3 times but I learn something new every time I go out. It's just full of little surprises. I got my 2 first nickels with it today! Thanks so much for all your advice. I kept the profiling off and hunted in coin mode most of the time. Next time I go out I'm gonna try turning off the tone ID and try that tone duration you talked about. I'm addicted.

I know a lot of people say the GTP 1350 is the same as the GTI 1500 except the sizing/profiling. I disagree.....I find that the GTP 1350 reacts a little faster then the GTI series, and the batteries last way longer in the GTP then the GTI.

I don't know John, I have never owned or used a 1500. I think some day I would like to get the 2500. But, I will have many years playing with my 1350 first. So far I'm loving it! I put a coil cover on it and a dust and rain cover. I keep re-reading the manuals and books that I bought and I keep learning little things. I sure wish we had computers back when I first got into this hobby. I think I would have learned a whole lot more and stayed with it then. I have learned more about tectin in this last year than I have in the last 10!

The 1350 is a fine well-built machine.

If you detect any really trashy areas, try getting the sniper coil and you'll really be able to pull the goodies out of the trash!
 
That's because the GTI is packing more features and has three coils to operate. Take away the imaging from one and the profiling from the other and you have a 1250. Both are just an expanded version of the 1250.

Yeah the 1350 will keep you busy for a spell in the learning department. The 1350 is extremely sensitive so bear that in mind in any situation and depending on your ground conditions start out with your sensitivity at 6 or 6.5 and work your way up, unless you have already been through that drill. Sensitivity too high in certain ground conditions will actually mask good targets.

One thing many of us do is to tape or fasten the coil cable straight up the pole for about a foot or so. This prevents unnecessary falseing as the top of the coil picks up the same way as the bottom of the coil and any slight movement of the cable is picked up by the coil. Lotsa luck. You have a great machine and it should keep you happy for quite awhile.

I am very happy with my 1350. I also have a 2500 that I actually dont like as much. Probably because I got used to the 1350 (actually stll learning) So its of to flea-bay with the 2500.
