Took the ACE 250 for a walk on the beach while my nieces went swimming..

Pete in MI

New member
we went up to Traverse City to the State Park (and yep I asked if they allowed metal detecting). Got the go ahead so while the nieces swam in the lake I did a little swinging. Talk about people watching me. I had several Chinese people snapping pictures...and maybe even making a movie of me detecting. I found a dime and one came rushing over to see what I had found. While they were taking pictures of me Sherry was taking pictures of them taking pictures of me

I found a quarter, dime and 3 pennies - all modern stuff. Then I hit another area of the beach and came up with what I am sure will turn out to be gold and diamond. Found a stud earring. People in this town are not low level income people...they have money for huge boats, great looking houses and more.

The diamond sure shines pretty in the sun. Don't think any of the CZs I have found look anything as pretty as this diamond...and it is big too.

It has markings on the backside - thought I read a 71 but not sure. Will take it to the jeweler Monday and get his opinion on it.

Here is some pics that don't do this earring justice.

Tried to show how the setting was, the markings and the shiny and pretty diamond...like I say these pics don't do it justice.

Sure wish these pics were better. Hoping Monday I can find out more details of this earring.

Maybe Sherry will post a pic or two of people surrounding me and taking pictures on the beach.

Hi Pete:

Looks like the mark is 925 to me. I've found some honkin' CZ's (some, like you say look REAL good). I think big ol' diamonds are going to be in gold and most likely, the setting will be a little beefier than just 4 prongs. But then again... who knows???? :)

only the jeweler will know for sure I guess then I will let you all know.

I thought the 925 might be some creater's number 92B or something. On rethinking though had I not recently found a heart shaped locket that was 10K gold on sterling, I'd have been even more sure it wasn't silver.

Will still take it to the jeweler and ask his opinion. Maybe I should go back to wearing one earring in my ear....Nah. I put away childish things :) (Well some of them anyway  )

I agree with Joe, 925 is highly unlikely for a real diamond. But you always need to check! A good find either way! :)
