Took the beast out for the first time

Well there is an older house just up the street from me that is going to be pulled down soon. I took the T2 to the back yard..the soil changes in this yard...it appears that there is enough junk there that it could have been a scrap yard..found nothing worthwhile... however I was just trying to figure the beast out.

I noticed that a modern Canadian penny shows up as iron/zinc
Also my read out kept going to overload when over cans..there had a "good" readout until I was right over them.
A twist off beer cap showed up as 25 cent on the scale.

I was using the 2+ desc. 40 in the disc mode
I played around with the numbers a little ( not much) but it seemed not to make much differance.

As I said it was a very "dirty" area...I think if I knew the machine a bit better I might had done better.
I thin to learn this machine it would be better starting out in cleaner areas.

I intend to hit a couple of Indian villiages soon....I guess if I am over a trade axe my machine will read out overload again.

Couple of things in a JUNKY area...Try to turn down sensitivity down a bit say try 30-40 and also raise the coil a bit when it's real junky. Also try to make your side to side coil passes level and shorter than normal. Say 4-5 inches to see if the T2 can sort out the many signals it's recieveing....If you see a quick signal that looks good dig it it's there!

Good luck ..I wish a small coil was available for real trashy area's ...but with practice the T2 does have excellant separation!

You can also take the other way around and set your disc to max (80) and work only the high end targets. The trash will easily be detected by thier bounce as opposed to the solid stable reads you'll get on the good targets. Once you've got all the high end stuff out of the ground then work backwards in -5 to -10 disc increments. When working this way I will work the sens at 50 and adjust from there. your Fe bar can also serve as a trash indicator so pay attention to it. If there is lots of iron trash around and you suspect there may be underground lines or near overhead lines drop your freq mode down some from it's default.
