It seems to go deep thats for sure.......;o) Now I just have to run the coil over some silver.

Hi Bill,
Once again, another great video! I really like the fact that they are not 5 minute short takes. You have given us almost an hour of F5 target digs between the two vids and I hope you will do some more.

Pay attention to the Phase numbers in the lower right hand corner when you are doing the wiggle over the deep targets. The TID can bounce a lot but the Phase numbers are more stable and can help confirm good vs bad targets. Since the phase number updates every second (by design) you just need to make sure your sweeps are sync'ed so as to give you good reads. Most of the time I could tell what you were going to dig just by what the phase number would lock onto after a few of your wiggles.

If you need a phase reference I've got one here: http://www.findmall.com/read.php?37,1585210,1585210#msg-1585210

Thanks Mike Hills. There is still a lot I have to learn with this one. I will check out the link. I will do some more vids hopefully I can get some good finds on camera.

Mike T. I do not have an Omega right now to compare the two. The reason I like the F5 is you can adjust the threshold. With the omega when you ran into EMI it seems like I kept having to drop the sensitivity until it stabilized. On the F5 you have the adjustable threshold too. The Omega may have been a little bit more accurate in the nickel range but without one to do side by side comparisons on the same target I dont know for sure. I think the F5 is about $100 cheaper too, not that that makes any difference to me. I believe that Mike Hills done an excellen article comparing the two.......;o)

Quote from Dave J

F5 and Omega are very similar in performance and response characteristics. Big difference in user interface, mechanical design is also somewhat different.

F-5 is sure a nice unit and personally is my favorite over the Omega as its solid built unit with both knobs and buttons..sure a lighweight user friendly unit that has a nice big meter for us old guys and a lot of facets to go with it...To each his own I guess but in their own right both good units....

Bill
All I can say after watching your two recent videos with the F-5 is great job. You really put on a clinic with that machine, not to mention the digging technique you demonstrated. I was considering getting an F-5 for my wife and you have made up my mind for me now. I wonder if Fisher will give you any commission for the machines you sold for them with your videos.
Great Stuff.

Thanks for the comments......Maybe I should become a dealer.....). They haven't been contacting me wanting to know where to send the check....Lol

Fantastic video.
I'm looking forward to the F5 a friend is going to loan me to try.

Now that's a video I can sit back, relax and watch.
That f-5 seems like a awesome unit...I'm liking it more and more,... just from watching.

Very nice Video with lots of good info . This is the kind of Video that helps a lot of people understand there F5's ...Good Job

nice crisp vid! I like the big screen display on the F5 too.it was a good video for entertainment as well as learning.:please:

I have probably watched all of your videos and like all of them. In reading Mike Hillis response; there might be a way us old guys don't have to dig so much.

Nice Video Bill_S,

Impressive depth your getting.

Looks to be very favorable ground conditions your hunting in. What kind of depth would you expect with a constant 3 bars showing under Ground Data and GB of 78?

Yes I believe that I have real good ground to hunt in. I really dont know how much depth you could get with what you described. But I do know in bad ground you can not get as deep I just dont know how bad it affects depth. Sorry.

I had an F5 and an Omega at the same time. I found the F5 to be a more enjoyable experience than the Omega. Why? I'm a fan of mechanical knobs as opposed to flimsy push pads. The F5 build quality was far superior to the Omega. I always felt I had to be super cautious with the Omega because of how flimsy it seemed. First Texas has some great electronics but the are lacking in robust build quality on most models. In my opinion the F5 and T2 were very well built.

Hi Bill, good video -- what I would like to know is where you got that great digging tool?
Is it home built? Thanks for the info, Dan dbax@dslextreme.com
