I bought a Turtle detector that uses a Tesoro BFO circuit.. Air distances cent app 4 inches, nickel less, Clad Quarter 6 and better...I wanted it to check a site...By the way, those distances, while you think they suck, will cover most of the stuff in shallow creeks...The targets I'm looking for are all in the 10 inch and better range. Colt model 1911 sounds off at 15 inches, as does other neat stuff. air distanced with the Turtle One dealer had a really nice collection of creek guns, I used to laugh my hind end off listening to his hunting tales.. He always said that dreams were what sold metal locators, and he wanted people to dream........ So chilly morning, throw on shorts, grab an old pair of shoes, Tee shirt, and go into the stream, water cold, knee level, started getting hits, wheat cents , one Indian , .. they were all very shallow which is what I found out years ago...More signals, then I slipped and fell down.. Man, that water was cold. At 76 your thermostat no worka so good, and I was getting cold, shivering violently, got to the car, out of the shirt and pants, put on a jacket, blanket, and turned heat on.. Violent shakes like that can trigger a heart attack....I like the concept of a body mounted control box since you. can effectively let go of everything and concentrate on recovery. I'm going to use the turtle until I convert my Vaquero into a wading machine.. I'll need to change the coil to either a wide scan, or 8 inch donut.. The 9 by 8 requires too much effort for water swinging... The turtle goes for trade or about $60 PP LESS upper shaft which I want to use.. By keeping the upper shaft, that sorta kills the "collector" value, so those of you into detector values can noodle it around. and decide price is fair or too high.... Last gun found was a pirate sawed down shotgun which I promptly made non working. Just thinking, it may still be around, and I could throw it in a stream for someone to find...
